Motown Muscle Season Opener at Milan - April 16th
Motown Muscle Season Opener at Milan - April 16th
It's wake up call time folks.
The Motown Muscle point series kicks off at Milan Dragway (http://www.milandragway.com/) on Saturday, April 16th. Everyone is welcome to come race. Active Club Members will be awarded Series Points and have a shot at getting your name on the MM Chris Jackson Memorial Cup for the 2005 race season.
Schedule:
8:30AM - Gates open and tech starts
9:00AM - Lanes open for TNT
10:30AM - Classes start running
Noon - Awards and wrap up
Cost Info:
We are going to keep the same cost split for racing this year with members racing for a $10 discount at each event. So the $30 savings pays for your $25 annual membership fee if you attend all three events.
Members that are current on their dues will race for $25.
Guests can race for $35 or they can pay the $25 membership fee and race for $25 for the day and get the same $10 discount on the second and third races for the season.
Milan's regularly scheduled TNT will start at 1PM and they typically let us just walk to the gate to pay for a new tech card if you would like to continue racing after our event.
All classes require the standard safety equipment for your speed/ET to clear tech. If the track tells you to slow down... then that's what we have to do.
Class Summary:
Class 1 - Run what you brung quick 16. Fastest 16 cars get a shot at heads up racing. Expect 9-11sec cars this year with a few guest cracking off some 8sec passes. It's heads up, pro tree racing. Everyone has the same tree to beat so use that and let the cars take care of the rest.
Class 2 - 11.99 and faster ET bracket racing. This one should have it all with turbo(s), juice and some SC cars coming out to play. Street tires, DRs and Slicks keep the racing fun and fast.
Class 3 - 12.00 and slower ET bracket racing. There is going to be some grudge racing going on here this year after our three way tie for the point series in 2004.
Prize Money and Drawings:
Each class will payout: 1st-$100, 2nd-$50, 3rd-$20 and 4th-$20.
We will also have our usual drawings for gift certifiactes from our sponsors.
Point Series Scoring:
1st place finish-5pts
2nd place finish-3pts
3rd place finish-1pt
4th place finish-1pt
Making a pass in the class-1pt to reward consistant attendance and durability

Re: Motown Muscle Season Opener at Milan - April 16th
We get both lanes prepped and the traction at our events there last year was as good as I've ever seen it. The advantage to running before TNT is that they have no time between when we get done and the 1pm TNT. So we get the early morning prep work for our use.
We had 3-4 x 9sec cars last year at each event. We may get a few more this year in addition to the some of the local guys looking to move out of the 8s/9s this year. We've been running 30-40 cars. So you can get a good number of runs in for the early season tuning and get things ready for the LS1Tech race if you guys are driving down there.
