Loud train horns?? Anyone have one on there car/truck?

I'm looking for a really really loud horn for my pick-up truck. I been coming across some train horns on ebay with 152db. I was just wondering if anyone here had a really loud train horn. Also if those horns on ebay are any good. I also came across a horn on ebay with a 175db - which I was told was the loudest horn that they make. Do you think the 175db horn will be loud enough for my truck?

i want to find a Quad-horn rig out of an 80s cadillac. the buick tri-horns from the same era were pretty loud too. Makes for a loud pissed-off sounding horn i dont need overkill to the point of compressed air though

Don't believe the hype

What they're selling are Chinese knock-off wannabe train horns

If you want authentic train horns, looks for either Nathan Airchime, Leslie or Prime (any of which will be MUCH louder)

And that 175db claim is total BS

There's a big misconception when it comes to proper measuring and a lot of marketing hype to go with it

A properly tuned Nathan K series horn (what is used on most railways to date) will only hit about 143db's

Just to give you an idea what that sounds like, here's a little video of my K3HA

And that was only a shop test using 80psi and a 1/4" restricted line

On my rig, I run 150psi with a 3/4" non-restricted line, so they're much louder

I have that Hadley 910 kit. Very loud but pleasant tone. And their kit is pretty cheap, includes everything that you'll need, compressor, tank, lines, wire, relays, and an air hose to blow up tires with.

So, where's a good place to get the Nathan K's?

hey al, how cheap is cheap? and how long is that air hose? if it would reach my trunk, where the shrader valve is for my air shocks, then that would be another reason I should buy one. how many psi are they capable of?

And Tom Aker on EBay (taakersc)

He's a collector that deals strictly in Nathan and Leslie horns
