I have a 4.10 in my 71 camaro. I know this sounds ridiculous, but does anyone have an axle for sale around the Michigan area that is (numerically) less than 3.00? I really don't want to play around with putting an overdrive transmission in it right now to make this drivable. send me a PM if you have something. well, if having the 4.10 axle ready to go for next year is your goal, then I can sell you a drum to drum rear I have and you can put in whatever posi or gears you want to. scott koreski (1bad86z) can build the rear for you for cheap.
or, you can just take out your axle and take it to him and he can install any gear you want if you dont need a second rear end hangin around.

I'll sell my axle housing, complete drum brakes setup, axles, open carrier all for $150 if your interested. I still have to take to the rear cover off to make sure it has whats supposed to be in there (4.10's and a spool). but you may be in luck and it'll have some high ratio gear set already. email me if interested.
