Lansing area MODFEST 2004 - May 15th
I wanted to announce that I will be having Modfest 2004 at my place on the weekend of May 15th, 2004. We'll be working on two cars at once, non-stop, for as long as we have cars to modify.
I need volunteers who will help out as both technical resources, safety stewards, parts hounds, pizza grabbers, hot dog cookers, mechanical assistants, and slot car pit crews.
If you have something you would like to modify on your car, this might be the day for you. Potential projects could include:
Intake swaps,
1LE or Corvette brake retrofits,
Cat-back exhaust systems,
axle swaps & rear suspension upgrades,
torque converter swaps,
Powdercoating & plenum porting,
Header installations
stereo installations

If everything goes as planned..i will be doing Long Tube headers, and LS6 intake on my 99. Would be great to have some experienced people help out. Would also depend on if a welder was around to weld the exhaust into place.

See this link to a web page that I wrote in 1999. In the last four years, I've gotten a little farther in terms of finishing off the project. In fact, I was painting just today! I should have the walls decorated in time for the modfest. About the only thing I will not have done yet will be the floors. I need to pay off a home improvement loan first, then come up with the $3900 necessary to finish the floor. This garage is sort of my "Z06 Corvette" that never moves.

If you want to wire a standard 230 Volt outlet (the ones used for electric stoves, electric dryers etc) I could bring a MIG welder.

I "might"have a welder guy that could come over to do professional welds, but he charges $50 an hour straight time. Should I check on it, or does anyone else have a MIG/TIG that can do welds? I have a small oxy torch that could be used to tack stuff together, but I'm no expert by ANY means!

Already got it covered, I just don't have a welder to plug into it! I normally use the 30A circuit to power my converted ceramics kiln, which will soon be my new powdercoat curing oven, once I finish repairing the temperature controller.
The oven goes from zero to 400 in about sixty seconds and the two-zone thermocouple controlled temp controller will hold temp to within one degree C (in theory, anyway!).

I worked on the garage all day today, and finished up the handrails to the upstairs. It's lookin' pretty darned good for the weekend! Now, I just need to start working on that stroker engine, after I get done figuring out taxes and fixing that leak in the roof. it never ends
