MIKE,

I understand you have had some bad times with Ramchargers. I am sorry to hear that.

BUT- on the flipside, there are some of us there that are worth seeing and besides, its what i do for a living to put food in my wife and kids mouths. Dont let one or two retards change your outlook on everyone who works there.

Let me just say that none of you guys that hang out on these boards are bad to deal with as far as Ramchargers. My problem with them is that they are the only speed shop in our area and you are stuck going there. What that means is any sunny Saturday afternoon you have to go in and wait in line for 1/2 hour just to pick up something small. Then you get to wait even longer for the people behind the counter to catch up with their benchracing with their regular customers making things even worse.

Log onto the internet, look up what you need and pay by credit card and have it delivered to your door. No lines. No hassle.

I'm glad Ramchargers is there for us, but unless its absolutely necessary and I need something in a pinch I prefer mail order. Maybe Brad does too since he lives on the other side of the state.

MIKE:

I understand how you feel but, speed shops across america are dying at an alarming rate. If everyone felt the way you do, ramchargers would be out of buisness fast. It seems like a wait as we talk to customers about thier car, " feeling out" what he does and doesnt have. it seems that every old hot rodder wants to put a 3/4 race cam in every stock converter and intake.

Heres 2 alternitives to ponder: We could try and be a murrys type shop that proccess people like a meat market , where parts accuracy is about 10%. Nobody behind the counter knows anything and its just a bad time all the way around.

#2 Ramcharger goes out of buisness, you need a -6 fitting on 4 pm sat to finish your car. Well, you hated waitng in line 5 minutes so you stopped going to ramchargers. NOW you have to call the mail order and wait till monday afternoon for that little part. Oops.

I dont pretend to think that that the public needs us, i think WE need the public. But there is no way to make 100% of the people happy. Ill shoot for 98%.

Brian, I llive in Grand Rapids. I have never been to Ramchargers and in fact didn't know that anyone on the board worked for them/you. The reason I buy from Summit is because even if order parts on Thursday at 3:30 I still get them Friday morning before 12:noon.

If you guys could guarantee me the same I would give you a lot of upcoming business. I still need some braided line and a new distributor along with some other stuff.

Larry, yeah I will try to be up in Stanton more this year. Last year I had a problem after the build up that was WAYYY less serious than I thought. It was safer for me to err on the safe side and not go racing though. I will be there more as long as I can get Wednesdays off sometimes. And yeah I know you're gonna stomp me but I have only spent a piddley $3500 on go fast parts in a 3rd gen. 12's aren't bad for us guys that have to deal with crappy head flow designs and archaic computer tuning issues. Pull the computer, pull the chip, erase it, re-do the code, re burn, reinstall.... takes like an hour sometimes to burn a chip and be back on the road.

Mike, its ok brotha! I sense you have been burned before. Just do what I do and mail order from Summit before 4 and you'll have it next day. No sense fighting about stuff like this fellas. By the way, would someone tell me what the hell a 3/4 race cam is?!

Now.... as I look out the window and see that its still snowing over here on this side of the state. I wonder WHEN Ill ever be able to get all this stuff installed. I bet it all the sudden stops being winter this year and moves to a sustained 70* + all at once. Then I'm gonna want to just drive the car instead of install the go fast parts.

Thanks for the kind words fellas.

I'm :cough: :cough: old enough to chime in on this one. Back in the day a 3/4th or three quarter cam would be any camshaft with a duration @ .050 number that fell between 220~235.
"Full Race" camshafts...larger than 235@ .050.

OLd SChOOl ouT, Jeff.
P.s...I believe there are four of us on this board from RC.

I thought a 3/4 "race cam" was having lift of .750? Thats what I was told by my auto shop teacher in high school back in 1986 and he was an old guy back then. Could be wrong though

Funny you say this. DaveD aslo thought that as well. But I was taught this back in :cough: 1976 when I drove a parts route for Northside auto Parts in Pontiac while in high school.
I was always picking up cams down in detroit at a cam company:General Kinetics. Camshafts at northside were like cokes at Mcdonalds....serving number????

We had two drag cars and one saw camswaps I swear everyother week...the 10.30 bb chevy 68 camaro. The other car was a NHRA prostock car back when Mountian Motors (572 incher in this bad boy) were legal!.
I'll never forget when we bought it from Houston Martin. He drove the car its first year in the 1976 season (a new 1976 camaro ) and we got it in 1977. Sorry old guy memories

Think about it this way if you were a all out "RACE CAM" and a "3/4 cam" was .750 lift how friggn big would a race cam be>>>
OMG!!! YIKES BatMAN

I can say that the Camshaft in my buddys Limited street bb chevy
would be a Full Race Nitrous cam under old school rules and that bad boy is 836 lift/ 302@.050 on a 114 with 116lsa!....
