Insurance Quote

What up, im going to look at a 2000 Camaro ss today and i was wondering what i would be looking at for insurance. I know its going to be outrageous, but i want to prove to my parents that i still need to be under their insurance. Im 19, had a speeding ticket in 2003 for 11 over. Other than that clean. I know its going to be outrageous anyways for myself, but i know it will be significatly cheaper for 50 year old parents who both still have clear records. If nebody could give me a ball park, that would be great.

Re: Insurance Quote

i have been tooling around with progressive, kind of nice how fast it is, but i know jack about insurance and i was playing with the numbers to see how low i could get it and my average right nw is 270 a month for the car. My parents are talking about putting the car under them as a pleasure car and me just be under my winter beater. Now i just got to hope it wont be to high for one of them to be under. If anyone would still like to voice what they think it would be for me or them that would be great, ill keep messing around with progressive........ Now to figure out how to pay the payments for the car

Re: Insurance Quote

for your parents if they're clean it will be cheap, even with you as a driver in the household. Under you, you are looking at about 300/month. I have a perfectly clean record, and when I was 19 the cheapest I could find was like 260/month. I am 21 now and pay 140 for full coverage on my camaro, and plpd on my 87 conquest. Good luck getting cheap insurance.

Your best bet is to have it under your 'rents.

what are the numbers exactly? I got my f-body when I was 19 as well. You can find a nice LS1 for an affordable price I'm sure. Keep looking. What was the cost of the car, length of the loan, and interest rate? I would recommend staying away from dealers, if you're doing this on your own. They will just destroy you and try to rip you off. If your rents are cosigning, you'll be all right. I would recommend joining a credit union if you haven't already. @ 19 I got a loan @ 5% for 5 years.

Re: Insurance Quote

the car was listed at 16, so i figureed that what they set the loan at. The guy im going through is a long time friend of the family who used to be an ebay dealer for our family and he recently started his own dealership. I don't think he would try to screw me to bad. The loan was 4 years at 350. I wanted to go 5 or 6 years, but im going to talk to them tomrow in person about that.

Re: Insurance Quote

well at that rate I don't think you'll be able to afford it, depending on what you make at your job.... 350 for the car, then another 300-350 for insurance, you're looking at almost 700/month, plus gas. Not worth it if you ask me. Just get an LT1 or a 98 car, and take the money you saved and put it into it. It'll eat the 00.

Re: Insurance Quote

I've seen 98 LS1's go for good deals. When I was in the market, a 98 SS went for, I believe 8500. By the time I got there though, it was sold. And that was in like April of 2004. 98's can be had for really good deals.

News to me. They need to try a different bank. My car was 7 years old when I bought it and I got 5 years @ 5%. Unless that bank is different. I still think it's more worth it to buy a 98 LS1 for 9k or so, and just modify it. After 7 grand in mods, you're killing any 16000 dollar 00 or 01 or even 02.
