Arrow I... in my unlimited idiocy...

...Left 4 very nice polished aluminum wheels, that will fit my '02 Silverado, sit out in the winter two years ago. They didn't pit, thank GOD, but they sure are ickey lookin'.

I used every polish, polishing compound and even the stuff Harold recomended, Blue Magic. NOTHING would take the water spot stains, corrision off, UNTIL I found a bottle of EagleOne Mag and Chrome Polish in the basement. This stuff has some grit in it and finally took off the 'stuff from hell'. It will take several hits of verious products but ya gotta do what ya gotta do to make your pewetr Z71 look different than every other pewter Z71 you see.

Now, once I am done, what can I apply to protect the polished finish, besides wax?? I gotta do Redbird's Welds too!

HInk (I feel like Chris Ja, MR. POLISH!!)

kev,
only thing i can say if they are uncoated (no clear) then i would just repolish them as you see fit.

you could clear them after polish, nooo?????

i am in the process of doing a set of 91z rims with a friend for his car, 2 rims are almost done, just painting the pockets and then the fun part afdter taking them to 1500 grit...polishing.

g'luck

please get me out of toronto....lol!!!!!!

It might be a little harsh on polished aluminum, but for chrome, Soft Scrub always worked awesome! I used to polish my Buick Rally rims with soft scrub back when I had my '72 Skylark!

Lightbulb

I looked at the third post and thought "WHO is this WEIRDO, then I seen the RRRR up in the corner! That wheel wax sounds interesting, Randy! You can only get it through Tire Rack?

Tanner, I'm staying away from clear coat at this point!!

Scotty... too bad that wasn't a '72 Gran Sport Stage 1. I'd be your friend, then!!
I want a Gran Sport someday, '65 - '69!! One of the 400" cars.

I had the same problem with my welds, but it was only one winter. I don't have a garage so they sat on the car parked all winter long. Did what you did tryed evrything I could think of (pep boys loved me) I even tryed never dul it got them clean everywhere execpt were it was pitted. Finally I just sanded them down now they are dul looking,no water stains and no pitts, so I take it weld wheels have a clear coat on them. If you try the wheel wax let us now how it works. I might just try it myself.
