Talking I don't have a fancy c3 like...

...Randy Bell with all wheel drive but my silverado does have
posi-traction (worthless) and someting called "Auto 4WD".
I gotta tell you that THAT is nice. Get all squirrly in 2 wd let off the gas, turn on auto 4wd and it snaps you right back straight again.

First chance to try it today, beats trying to pull a lever in
4wd high!!

Yes sir HInkster, that shift on the fly 4WD is awesome. I had that on my '99 S-10 ZR2. You could get sideways on purpose and then press the button with your foot on the gas and you are straight as an arrow.

Well I don't have no fancy automagic 4 wheel drive like Kevin Hinkley has ...........................but the wife said that the truck handles just fine in the slippery stuff.
I'll have to keep an eye on her to make sure that she doesn't get an arm injury from reaching down to grab the manual 4 wheel shifter

Thumbs up

Yes the shift on the fly is very nice. I had it on my 98 1500 Z71 SLE. That was a great truck. I miss it alot.

CJ... Auto4wd may be a little different. On a slippery road you push the button Auto4wd and drive. The truck goes to 4wd mode but actually only runs in 2 wd until it senses tire slippage, THEN it kicks into 4 wd. What it basically does is have the 4wd ready to kick in in an instant, kinda a 'Save Your Butt Mode'!!

And as for you, Al... My '00 GMC was a shift on the floor 4wd that didn't always want to shift into or out of 4wd. That was the CRAPPIEST truck I have ever owned, only to glad to get rid of it
