Finally after 2 weeks I got my truck back. The dealer worked with a fuel injection specialist from Arizona and they put a fuel pressure sensor of some sort in it. The truck still isnt the same truck that it was when we first got it. It still doesnt seem to have the power it once had. I had also been talking to the GM customer service people and after my last conversation with him he advised me that the fix was just and educated guess and that if I have further problems I should seek legal advice. And not bother with a dealer again. Whatever that means.

I guess these truck are just to complicated for most dealers to service. Its really to bad because GM builds a really nice truck.

so were they able to duplicate the problem? or is it down on power all the time?

the only time you guess and give the customer back there vehicle is if you cant duplicate it. how many miles did they put on your truck trying to duplicate/diagn. it? thats a sure way to see how long they worked on your truck even though it sat there for 2 weeks. if it has 10 miles on it, they couldnt have spent too much time UNLESS it is down on power all the time and easily duplicated.

sounds like there done working on your truck. and there telling you to try for the lemon law buyback. when we get very hard to diagn. problems, they'll send out engineers to try and further diagn.. now, thats only the extreme example. and only happens when theyre trying to avoid buybacks, or if its a new and complex system that they KNOW they havent supplied us with the right tools or enough information about.

They did say that it was def. down on power but they never got the engine to limp. they put 17 miles on it. It showed P1093 code but they could not find a problem. They as well at GM customer service told me that they sent a snap shot of the ECM out to a fuel engineer in Pheonix Arizona and he said that the fuel rail pressure sensor was sluggish. They also replaced the fuel pressure reg.

These are the parts that they have replaced so far and they have done a ton of ECM recals.

Fuel rail pressure sensor part # 97361561
o-ring and intake gaskets part # 97303655
97303656
97729991
97306568
97318478
Replace fuel pressure Reg.part# 97369850
Replaced VSS on T-case 12376520

I dont know if those are part #s or not it says FP number on the paperwork that I have.

The truck always has the same things that it does. No power, surging, rough idle and the engine goes into a limp mode that shuts it off at just under 2000 RPM

The fuel filter has been changed every 10k so twice now.

We alway fill it up at the local Sunocol the alot of truckers use so I am sure the fuel is fresh.

ok, so it is down on power in general AND intermitantly will basically not rev past 2K rpm (like the pcm is limiting the rpms there?). see thats the part where Id have to drive the hell out of the truck to get it to act up, or my manager would, or the service writer would. 17 miles is nothing. thats like 20 min.s of driving, unless you stated that it only happens say on surface roads type speeds. when does it do the 2000 rpm thing? driving down a main road, side street, parking lots, or when driving down the highway? or has it done it at any given time? cause thats what they should be trying to get to happen, and send THAT snapshot to engineering. if it does it at slow speeds as well, then 17miles could be an accumulation of LOTS of sidestreet type driving.
I wouldnt hesitate to contact a lawyer, get some advice from them as to what your next step should be. you have already laid the ground work for a buy back, but Im not positive what other steps need to be followed.
I still dont think they tried enough to fix it for you though. not your fault, youve certainly given them plenty of opportunity. but they have dropped the ball.

The truck seems to act up where ever it wants to. The rpm limet is the engine limp mode and in first gear is about 20 mph. If i leave off the gas and let it shift I can get it to go 60 but no faster. However this is also intermediate.

Just like irocss85 said, we send out data recorders to dealers to try and capture the event. If the customer agrees, we will release the truck to duplicate the concern. Auto companies/suppliers have been building electrical harnesses for years. We still see intermittenances concerns due to crimps heights, terminal widths, connectors no seating.....Same with sensors. As technology increases so do the possible failures modes.

I actually asked for a data recorder and they just acted like I was an idiot. I thought the only way to get this thing fixed for good was to capture the actual event, but they didnt seem concerned. Maybe they just want me to get pissed off and try for a buy back. At this point it looks like if I want It fixed I will have to take it down to Detroit to another dealer that actually wants to fix it. Or maybe nobody will work on it anymore if they look up the history.
