Lordy. Chirped the tires, got to 35 mph in 2nd and got a "careless driving" ticket tonight on Gatroit. The Ford explorer next to me passed me up too. It wasn't even an intentional thing to take off with speeding in mind. Really lame police around here. That's why my white collar butt will never support them. I guess I will get slicks so my tires don't make any noise.

tell the judge you just bought the car, and it was a stick. You didnt really know how to shift it, i did that three different times in roseville.

I was going to say just pay the ticket, until I saw that careless driving.. You gotta fight to keep that off the record. Good luck.

The police are very strict on Gratiot to try and keep people from cruising too fast and mostly to earn a lot of revenue for the city. It's never good to have a careless driving on your record, if your record is decent then you have a chance of negotiating it down. 3 points can haunt you.

Don't drive with slicks either because they will give you another ticket for that.

 

I thought careless driving was 4 points. It would be worth $300 to an attorney to keep that one off your record. Fight it and make the cop show up in court.

 

Careless driving is a 3 point violation. I see too many of them for the most mundane driving.

 

The last one I got was 4 points back in the good ole days before crack and rap music. I already had 8 points on my record and that put me to 12, the magic number. I had to see some lady at the drivers license bureau and I remember handing her my license and leaving without it. You learn how to drive real cool when you lose you license for 30 days. The dumb part is I didnt even try to fight it. 21 years old and driving a 68 Dodge Coronet RT convertible 440 auto every day. The moral of the story is fight every ticket even if you have to borrow the money for an attorney.
