Good gas stations in Ionia?

I'm curious as to what are the good gas stations to fill up at during my trip to M9 this weekend?

I want to run 93 octane for sure, but definitely nothing with ethanol in it, so that leaves out Sunoco.

It's been a while since I went to one of the M events, so I can't remember what gas stations there are along that stretch of road leading to the hotel and leading up to the track.

I don't think so, I know it's very common in California (probably all of their stations use it) but up this way I don't think it's very common.

I definitely don't need race fuel though. I do need 93 octane though, since my car has been dyno tuned with a more agressive spark curve.

NO! Just Sunoco unless they are labeled as such!
I haven't seen another major gas supplier in Michigan do this.

PAT: Ionia and Stanton and a couple of stops in between have name brand gas stations. It will be no problem. Also buy a gallon or 2 of the good stuff to mix in if you want a booster. To find out your actual rating add the gallons of octanes (in your car and purchased), say 92+92+92+92+102 = 470 / 5 = 94 final octane rating.

This is a FYI as some people may not know how to figure your actual octane rating when mixing in racing unleaded fuel.

Thanks for the info Kev! So what stations do you guys try to avoid in Michigan? Which ones do you guys favor? I know the good ones in Canada, but have no idea which ones are good in the US.

There is a Shell in the last town before coming to Stanton from Ionia. Also at the turn in Stanton, on the corner is an Amoco (or maybe now BP). Stay away from the obvious small chain stations and Meijers. Meijer buys from whomever sells them gas cheapest.

Shell it is! They have 93 octane there correct? As long as it's not a full serve station! (the Patman doesn't do full serve!)

It's very rare to find a full serve station in Michigan.

Hey Chad, how come you're selling your car? What are you going to replace it with?

Re: Good gas stations in Ionia?

I want to replace it with a C6, but that all depends on what I can get out of the car. I just found out from Livernois that I spun a rod bearing so I have to get that fixed first.

Okay Pat... Sheridan is the name of the town. Station will be on the left as you leave this small town. AND... I sure hope it is still a Shell station. If not you can get name brand gas in Stanton.

Marathon and Shell in Ionia
Marathon and BP (amoco) at 66&57
Marathon and Shell in Sheridan
Mobil and BP in Stanton.
104 unleaded at the track.

And I've bought all of my gas for racing this year at Meijers in Ionia. 93 octane and one of the few stations that has a seperate hose for every grade.

Are you still coming to M9 even though you can't race?

That is cool if you get a C6! Although right now the real bargains are the last of the C5s! I capitalized on the C5 price drop myself, I just knew prices would drop when the C6 was introduced.
