Good alignment shop in Lansing area?
Good alignment shop in Lansing area?
I need to get an alignment on my car. I already had it done at a shop but they didn't do it right. It seems like no one knows how to get a F-body aligned properly.
So, does anyone know any good alignment shops around here?

Holt Auto Alignment USED to be the place to go, but the owners rarely align cars now and the jokers they have now just like to go on test drives.
Stay Clear of Holt Auto Alignment!

So, so far, Don's Auto Alignment seems good?
I dunno if Belle tire would do a good job. Most of those franchise auto shops only adjust the Toe.
I need my suspension fully aligned since I have new shocks, springs, and poly bushings on it now. Camber, Caster, Toe, all the works.

Places to avoid:
Holt Auto
Okemos Auto
Good places:
Liskeys
Belle Tire @ Cedar/Penn
ChronoGN, trust me on Liskeys, theres a guy there named Russ Kloepfer (I forget how to spell his last name), who does AWESOME work. He'll get the car in to the specs you need.
Also, I know you know Justin (Had the SRT-4) - he does awesome work as well, I think $30 and take it to him on a late night he'll align it for you.
Belle Tire, I have heard nothing but good things from them... The only time I hear bad things is if you buy a suspension component and want them to install it, they wont install it unless you purchased it from them.
Holt & Okemos Auto -- they have alignment machines that are out of date and very inaccurate. And their honesty levels are not that great either.

eww, I've heard plenty of horror storys about Northwest Tire, especially that one. Sounds like you had a good experience there though...

You used to drive a V6 Camaro???
Re: Good alignment shop in Lansing area?
I agree, they are idiots. I had a slow leak fixed there once on a directional tire and they remounted it backwards. I went back in there to get it switched back and the manager acted like he was doing me a favor, WTF?
Re: Good alignment shop in Lansing area?
Jake, a shop that recently opened on Grand River avenue across from Dennys in East Lansing did a wonderful job for me a few weeks ago after Pres Kool screwed up the alignment job. Pres Kool stuck to their guns and said that the vibration and steering that pulled to the right were because of my tires. However after two months I lost the inside edge of the tire. So, I bought some new tires. However the car still tracked to the right.
Lansing Automotive re-checked the alignment and discovered that Pres Kool had managed to stuff up the castor and the right-tire toe-in. Once they were done fixing it, I paid my $55 and went on my merry way with the now vibration-free, straight tracking car.
Check with Bill and mention my name as a referral. Bill sounds like a salesman but he's really a straight shooter. He's serious about making his shop a performance shop, and they are certified for doing GM warranty work now. They are buying the floorspace from Showroom Shine and hope to set up their chassis fabrication shop soon for assembly of kit cars and other custom high-performance stuff.

Edit: and for tires, I do love ValueTire. Those guys rock. They're not as classy as Discount Tire, but they do just as good a job and are cheaper. I must say though, when I go in to get tires I research my tires before hand and do not go with what they recommend, and typically what I want needs to be ordered - which ValueTire can get next day provided the order is made early enough.
