Comp reset???
Comp reset???
On my 99 ls1 i recently installed a new clutch. Ever sence if i leave my car set for a couple hours or over night and than i start it up the computer seams to reset. The spedo and tach peg out to 155mph ans 7grand. My trip odometer also resets which makes it hard to tell how long i have left on the clutch break in. Could it be that i left a sensor unpluged or something?
thanks, Dane

Id be more woried that a harness got smooshed in between the block and bellhousing. Id get back underneath there and make sure. and double check the plugs while your at it. look at the harness whereever you can see it, make sure its not rubbed through and shorting out also. if you left it unplugged, then that sens. only would not work. wouldnt have to do w/the other stuff. could also just be a coincidence that this happened at the same time, but its a longshot.
good luck

This is a very common malady with the 99s. And it rears it's ugly head when the weather gets cold. It could be fine all summer then "bam".
Some had to have the instrument cluster replaced others "fixed" it with more battery power ie. A fresh battery and cleaning the cables. It has to do with low voltage, starving the PCM/IP cluster causing the reset.

The cold weather thing makes a lot of sence. I pulled it out of the auto shop after the clutch install and i drove ot around for about 200 miles with no problem. I put her away in mid november and hadto take it out a week or so ago to go get my windows tinted and thats when it started doing it. ill check the bat terms and clean em. thanks alot
