Circuit City for remote start install.... will they be around in 5 years
Remember Highland Appliance???? Those worthless peckerheads up and went out of business.
I'm leaning toward getting my remote car starter from Circuit City, partly because they claim their extended service will fix or replace it, anytime, any place (that they have a store) if there's a problem.
So, do you think they'll be around in 5 years to stand behind their work and products? What makes you think so (or not)??
RRRR

I don't know what year car you have but these remote starts were causing trans failers a couple of years back. GM will not warrenty the computer system or transmission if they fail because of the remote start. I don't know if the problems were fixed with the systems or not because I left the dealership 1 1/2 years ago. You can call Sammy or Brian at 586 739/7400 and ask for them in service and they can tell you.
The remote start was causing problems with the computer system and the computer systems were tell the trans to do the wrong thing and burning up the transmissions. I hope this helps.
If I were going to get car electronics I would go to Best Buy. When you sell the car they will remove it for free. That way you can have it put in the new car. Just my .02

well i worked at both and there is no way i would ever get anything from best buy again if your worried about warranty work.
circuit city warranties for life of the owner as well as takes care of you at any circuit city stores and doesn't require you to keep record of the sales receipt or the like. mind you that the product hasn't been messed with.
it's alot harder "if that's possible" to get into installation at circuit city than best buy as well. but, if your that concerned over a warranty without knowing the actuall product warranty or the history of the store your buying it at then i guess this doesn't matter.
if you want the most versatile without going through a custom install shop and paying a little more. circuit city offers the most mainstream for the price with the best value.

I saw Autoway has them for $159 installed and they do great work.
I just bought a remote start for the winter car for $59 and am going to throw it in myself. Just a note DO NOT buy anything from Jams Sound-Auto Trend. Thats where I bought it and those **********s tried to screw me out of a remote, I had to drive back and chew them out.

understand that the most expensive part is typically the relay which bypasses the anit-theft on the newer models....installation isn't hard, but isn't that easy on these either. one slight slip up and you could do some serious damage to your transmission and other parts.
59 dollars is pretty average for a remote start alone, but if that included the relay needed for newer vehicles i would highly question it.
you should expect to pay on average of 150 -200 without install. unless you were to build it yourself which in most cases can be done for around 40-60 depending on what relay you use and the type of transmitter.
last time i checked cartunes had the best prices on remote starters only. just do some calling around and you'll find what you need.
