Find a cover that is waterproof.Shop around you can find one at a decent price. Put some mothballs under your hood to keep critters away. The last time i stored my car outside something made a home under my hood......i started the car one day and after a few it smelled like roasted chicken, popped the hood and i had a bunch of chicken pieces and some ribs on the motor plus whatever it was pissed and **** all over too so after the chicken smell wore off the car smelled wonderful, and the nice cover i had the dog destroyed trying to get the critter. That lil bastard alse ate some wires too.....i guess the chicken was not enough for it. I store my in my garage but I still use moth ***** in dixie cups. put one on the intake, and one inside. After a few days of spring weather the smell is gone. My wifes grandmother swears you can use Bay leaves to repel rodents and bugs also. But I have yet to try it.

I've also heard that regular old hand soap -- the bar kind, like Ivory hand soap -- keeps critters away. Smells too much like people, I guess. I'd put a few pieces just inside your tailpipe(s) too.

Alternately, you could rent some storage space. I know Kalamazoo is pretty much on the opposite side of the state for you, but my boss has a nice cement-floor building on his property at home and he rents spaces in it to people for winter storage. If you want his cell # email me.

Working in the dealerships for many years I can't tell you have many cars were towed in with wires chewed into.

Regular dryer sheets work too. I haven't ever had a problem in the pole barn with the dryer sheets. I also plug my exhaust with something so that I don't get mice in the muffler again! I started my car and a nest went flying!

California Car Covers makes a good outdoor cover. They're custom-built for your car. Look for one of the "Evolution" fabric ones. I have one. I bought it back in 1994. It protects somewhat against dents and what not too if someone were to open a door into it or something. It's kinda thick and quilted in texture. I used to work at a store that ordered them, but sadly that store is no more. I'd check online for that company.

The advice about the rodents is accurate as well. The little buggers got into my sound proofing and shredded it big time! I had bees one year too- up the snorkle! Yowza!

You might want to consider putting it up on blocks and storing the wheels elsewhere. This protects your rims and doubles as a pretty effective theft-deterrent. If you have good plugs, take 'em out (if you're the lucky kind of guy who has both the time and the patience for that sort of thing) and put in some old ones. There's also some stuff that's recommended for carbs (if you have one).

Beyond that, give the good folks at RM Classic Cars a call. I used to work for a buddy of Rob's. That's wher eI learned what I know. They used to have a pamphlet they distributed on this very topic. They'd have tonnes of helpful suggestions. I can tell you that.

Hope this helps!

Tracey
