Unhappy Can stuff get any worse? YES!

Well... the last week has done it's best to slam me into the hospital again!

1) Last Tuesday... divorce final.
2) Last Wednesday night... BIG problem at work, BIG!
3) Last night... blew up engine in show truck (I'm pretty sure).

Got smart azzed on US 127 last night after a car passed me going about 90. I decided to let truck stretch it's legs. Kicked it down and buzzed her up to about 110-120. Truck never came out of 3rd gear. I forgot that under full throttle, it will not kick into 4th. Revved her pretty good and lifted a bit to go into OD. Then slowed down with no problems. I now think I did hear a little noise but nothing major... until I started her today. Lots of clacking/clanking.

Sounds like I might have broke a piston skirt as it still runs without missing but has unholy noise coming from passenger side bank that gets louder when valve cover is off.

At first I was hoping it was one of the front acceserey components, but I fear no luck.

Forgive me for whining but if I don't blow some steam off, I may just EXPLODE! Damn the luck!

Bad things come in three's. I just got over my bad luck stretch.

You should be clear sailing now. Only good luck will come.

Don't feel like the lone ranger, ol buddy!! It seems like I take 3 steps forward and 5 back 90% of the time. Just think of it this way, what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger!!

sorry to hear that Hink. well, things come in three's someone said. so his bad luck, your badluck, and my badluck. seems my camaro that I just got done installing a cam and my ported heads in has a rodknock too. already ruled out poss. valvetrain noise. and the oil filter has metal flakes in it. Im taking it to work tomorrow and throwing it up on a hoist to replace the main/rod bearings, but Im not sure the cam bearings are ok. guess we'll find out in a couple days when I get finished and start it up again. but if the crank and/or rods are damaged, the eng. s coming out and I'll fill it with forged rods/pistons/and maybe crank. we'll see. at least you still have the TA to play with. my Iroc is partially apart awaiting a paint job before I will put it back together. so I was SUPPOSED to be playing with my 95 this summer. ohwell. time to get back to work.

Unhappy

Sorry to hear of your trouble, Chris! Does yours sound the same cold or warm? Mine sounded less noisey the other day when I put the truck in the hanger. Gonna remove the serpentine belt JUST to make sure it isn't anything on the front of the engine. I know it's a long shot but you never know... could get LUCKY??!!

yeah, well I dont have any doubt that the bearings are gone. I started dissassembling it today. took off that stupid oil cooler and there were metal shavings in there. and the oil had a metallic tint to it. I had already checked things like takin out the torque conv. bolts to make sure it wasnt a bad conv. or flexplate. readj. the rocker arms.

it didnt make ANY noise when cold started. as it got hotter, it would be louder, and happen at lower rpm. now I have to figure out what happened. with all the metal in the oil/filter, I dont think the bearings just finally wore out. seems like something happened that caused it. I will look at the oil pump pickup screen asap when its out. hopefully it will be out monday night.
