Nope, you did a beautiful job. The in-car footage works great: There's a 15-second feature of Taner rowing the gears in there, some cutaways of Taner at the starting line, and some end of track footage to finish off the race. Same thing with the Bamford footage. In fact, there's a piece from INSIDE the Bamford's car as Taner's broken Z gets pushed past and towards the pits. All in all, I am well pleased with that part.

The music are all original compositions and recordings by a CamaroZ28.com member named Greg Terzian. He gave me about 25 minutes of good quality stuff.

I've watched the finished MiniDV preview this morning before lunch, and other than a few technical glitches with sound, it's about as good as I can do with the technology I have. There's some problems with sound cut-outs due to a shorted mic in a couple of spots, and some occasional jittery video due to the Sony Hi-8 camera that I used as backup, but I can't fix that. However, I'd say I'm 90% there in terms of the finished product. I'll try to fix the sound glitches tonight, then work on making menus on Sunday.

Now, the question I must ask is this: How many copies should I produce? This DVD is going to be WAY MORE COOL than a T-shirt, especially if your car participated in the racing. I only wish I was not three months late in producing it! Still, it'll make a great way to break up the winter: Even my non-car oriented kids like watching it, for some reason.

Sounds good, Dan.

Did you still need me to send you that music we talked about on the phone? Let me know, it was gonna go out on Monday on CD.

Chris and I still have to compile the credits...

Probably won't need the music Jason. I decided to press on, and at this time it would be hard to implement them. In some places, the music interferes with the action, I discovered. I had to scale back some of my uses of the music because it was distracting when I was trying to listen for the Ledford commentary.

I used the music in two ways: At transitions between segments, and to help move the action along. There's usually some kind of tune playing about once every five minutes. I have three themes that I use: Some ballad-type of music, some lively & fast rock, and some metal edged rock. There's also a cheesy ten second bit in there that is clearly farce but I'll leave it up to you to find it. (Hint: It precedes a certain 400 millisecond slice of of Jen's video that you asked me to include.)

Well, back to the editing! I'm going to try to compile the M8 stuff tonight. It won't be nearly as tightly edited as the Nationals: I'll probably only spend a few hours on it. Still, I'll try to make it tell a story. I'm expecting it to be about ten minutes long, at most.

Success

Hey, it's been a long night, but I have a FUNCTIONAL DVD playing in my computer right now, with menus and everything! There's a couple of tweaks that I need to fix, but it's darned close.

I'm going to need that list of credits pretty soon, Jason!

.yawn.

Maybe we post the IDs of the preaids and then give the rest of the site 3-5 days to chime in with their interest or payments to the site PayPal account so you have a solid first printing order??

I'm guessing that word of mouth might generate a second print run.

I'm hoping you'll buy a copy since you are so prominently featured! There's this 30-second burnout medley in which your car (among others) makes some terrific smoke, all set to music.

This is a fun video to watch. Once I get it ín the can', and we have a preview of it, perhaps THEN would be the time to post that the order line is open. Wait a week, then go to town.

Hey, Jason, I just thought of something: How about when it's all done, I take the master and we have a DVD party? Whaddya say? That way we can have some real reviews to help drum up support when we start marketing it?

Ohhh I'm certainly in for a copy. Hopefully it wasn't the burnout in "R" for Race.

It was another great CZ28 event so this will be a fun way to remember it. Good cars, good races, great people and all the fun that goes with it. Next time we might have to add the Deck Hotel footage and Super Ball tossing as a special Bonus feature section.

Angry Just when you think you are out of the woods

It's Midnight, and I've managed to apply ALL edits and ALL changes to the DVD. I've tested the menus and they seem to work. It's time to burn a test DVD.

Wouldn't you know it, Pinnacle crashed and froze up my Windows XP Professional machine!

It's enough to make me take up smoking, or biting my nails, or some other nervous habit. I swear that just when I start to begin to trust that program, it bites me right in the hiney.

Final count: 91 minutes of stuff.

Okay, It's rendering. We'll see if there's a disc for me in the morning, eh? Maybe it's finally time to stock up on DVD-R discs!

--JASON: I need those list of credits. That, and the cover & disc art are all that I am missing at this point.

(That, and a successfully rendered disc with completed menu structure. I'm crossing my fingers!)
