I was just wondering if any one has any tricks to replacing the antenna receptacle on this thing? It looks like it is a real pain in the butt. I really feel that GM dropped the ball on this design. Something that should be a five minute fix looks to be hours. The dealer wanted $350 to fix it just in labor!

Thanks

yeah, its a bitch. you have to remove the pass. fender completely to get access to where it pass's through the firewall. I havent done one of these, our trim guy does them all. I can ask for tips for ya tues.. but yes, it'll be a bitch.

Sounds good Chris, I would really appreciate it. I can't think of anything more stupid then having to remove a fender to replace an antenna. I was thinking that is the only way to do it. I started to take apart the cowel vent to see if I could get to it that way but couldn't get the damn wiper arms off?

Thanks

I think that does have to come off too, but I'll find out. a real good trick to removing wiper arms is to use an old batt. term. puller. the two hooks will go under the arm, and the center bolt will push down on the stud (more like useing the center stud to pull up on the hooks) it'll come right off that way. the other way is to pull up on it while tapin on the end of the stud with a hammer. try to keep from messing up the threads though on the stud, you need them to reinsall the nut right?
