Talking August 3rd, Racing at Stanton

For those interested there is a race at Stanton on the August 3rd. It's setup with index classes rather than bracket racing. Payouts go to best burnout in the first round for each class (like $25) as well as the winner from each class (depends on how many show up). I know there are a lot of 13 second cars out there that would stand a good chance as well as the cars that fit in the other indexes.

All of the normal safety rules are in effect just as they would be at any other Stanton event. You can look at the flyer here. <A HREF="http://www.gofastzone.com/challenge/2001/challenge2001.asp" TARGET=_blank>

A few of us from the west side of the state are planning on some mild festivities at the track, you're more than welcome to come hangout as well.

The rules are enforced lightly, especially in the higher classes. No one really checks the cars out. It's just that the guys running P/S and S/S are really into it for fairness. You're talking about cars that run 8's not 11's. To them it's a big deal.

Personally I don't mind it. I'm sure if we can dominate the class and there are no objections by others you'll be fine.

They run the events in with the other events. It's rather fun. It's done off a .50 Pro Tree. A lot different than your normal street tire shootout!

I have no muffler at all, or a drive shaft loop. Do you think I could get away with that on the inspection? I would like to go to see what I would run. I ran a 13.37 last year. Since I got some BFG DR's a 3.73 gear and a lid. Kinda curious to see what I'll run now.

Driveshaft loop is not an issue until you go below 13 seconds. I've not been asked there about that. I will however say, firsthand experience, that you would be wise to put one on. Best $100 bucks you could spend if you blow a driveshaft. Ever see a car polevault down the track?

About the mufflers, same story as the cutout. I personally don't mind, but it would depend on the others. Let me ask the guys putting it on to see if they care. I can't imagine that they would.

Aaaaand, that would be where I come in! Derty is handling the racing angle and I'm handling the organizing of the pit party...

Anyone who is planning on coming, either to race or just to bring your f-body and hang out with the rest of us, please email me:

I'll email you back with more information and instructions. I'd write them all here but I don't wanna seem like an up-tight bossy b!tch.

Derty,
I was thinking of doing this until I read the classes.
I'm running all 12.7s and 12.8s I'd get slaughtered in the 12.00-12.99 class.
Maybe I could load the car full of weights to slow it down Lets see.............a full tank of gas and 150-200lbs should get me up to 13.00

Sandbag it. Just don't get caught! I the 13.0 class it should be a lot of fun. I'm thinking if you had a really bad day at the track things may go your way.
