Attn: West siders

What would you guys think about putting together a club for us west siders? Seems like everything out there right now (MM, SLP, etc) is heavily east side based and it's hard for those of us on the other side of the state to make any meets/events/etc

I see a ton of f bodies around battle creek, kazoo, GR, etc., but very few on the boards.

I was thinking about starting a website to use as a meeting place. I had a thought about making up some business cards with a little info and the website url. Figured it wouldn't be too intrusive to stick one on a windshield when I see them in parking lots or hand one out to people at the car wash, or wherever I run into them. We could all do that, not actively, but just keep a few in your wallet/purse and if you happen to see one and it's not a big hassle, drop a card to them.

I think we could increase the base of contacts quite a bit this way. I was almost tempted to print some up with this sites URL just to get more local folks involved.

As far as what would be considered "West Michigan" we could use 69/127/27 and west as a fuzzy border line.

Any ideas what it could be called? maybe something simple like West Michigan F-Body Association? www.wmfba.org ? Other suggestions?

Any west siders think this would be something they might be interested in trying out? I could secure the URL and maybe some cheap hosting to get it started.

Let me say this. The webspace is being reserved, the name has been choosen, and we are brainstorming everyday. It would be a PITA to type it all out, but anyone who is interested in giving some input is welcome to send me a email at dream1q@attbi.com. I welcome all ideas. I should have more info within a few weeks. Yes, I realize it is summer, but I want to do this right, not rushed.

Why is it that when I brought up this idea last fall, people were like "no we don't need a car club to hang out" and now you're all for it?

Waaah.

Sorry Becca, last year I wasnt that into it. But this year and past winter, I got more involved in local happenings. Plus I am totally GREEN with envy over how much the east siders have. The general plan as of now is to include all types of enthusiast's and thier cars. Basically I am gonna plagerize the hell out of MM. At least their basic theme. Like I said, PLEASE send any suggestions to me in my email.

so based on how you are going to set that up, there should still be room for an f-bod only club...correct? I know getting too many clubs going can make for schedule conflicts and conflicts of interest... but I think I am drawn a little more to a like minded group of folks

just personal opinion though

In the infamous words of Humpty Hump, dowhatchalike. I think a multi styled club is more toward what would work for the area. Granted alot of F-bodies will be here, due to the fact that we know each other in the area. But other car types have things to bring to the table as well. I see this as a chance to orgainze this side of the state a bit when it comes to clubs, as well as a chance to meet people we wouldnt have the chance to hook up with normally.

I am a member of MM from before we were even MM. I thing the multi car thing was the one thing we did that I would NEVER change. As cool as it is to see 20 f bodies going to the track in a group, its sweeter to see some f-bodies, mustangs, handfull of Vettes, a viper or two, and some Shelby Cobras. Being as spread out as a West side group would be, I doubt the turnout would ever be very great if you were to just have f bodies. I think you would have trouble getting good turnouts even with a multi brand group. Either way, you can count me in. Never hurts to meet new people.
