anyone looking for a nice mountain bike?

not top of the line ofcourse, but nowhere near the crap you buy in dept. stores. check out listing if your interested. only reason im selling it is cause I wanted a smaller frame. so it made more sense to buy another bike for me then just a frame. all it needs to be perfect is the shifter replaced or just adj.. but its fine to ride it just as it is. hard to explain w/o riding it.

How tall does someone need to be in order to ride this bike, Chris?

I need to find something for my 13 year-old, and this looks pretty promising. However he's about five-six, maybe five-seven, with (I think about) a 28 inch inseam.

I have a 31" inseam, and have about an inch of clearance. its def. on the tall side for him right now. could he ride it? absolutely. is it a perfect fit, no. but he will grow into it. depends, do you want to buy a nice bike he can keep for a while? or a bike that fits him well now, that he'll outgrow in a year or 2 at most. I do actualy fit this bike well. but, I come from bmx background, and prefer a smaller feeling bike under me. and, since I want to dirt jump, a taller frame isnt suited for that. light trail riding, and street riding would be a perfect fit for me. and would be fine for him too. like I said, depends on how he rides. do you go riding? Im just getting into it and have only been goin to the rails to trails bike path's so far. but intend on hitting "single track" trails as a new hobby. and way to stay in shape. I know someone who's selling a smaller bike for $200obo if youd rather find something that fits him perfect right now instead. I never saw the bike, cause he was too far away before I found the bike I bought. but sounded very nice. new it was a cheaper bike then mine ('03 trek 4300, search on it) and maybe a few pounds heavier, but still a real solid bike with decent *SPELLING:* hardware. I also got a real cheap mongoose 24" tire full suspension bike you can have for $25. good shape, but the shifting is sketchy. like my GT though, most gears work.

Like you Chris, we've discovered woods trails. In fact, there's a new surge track at a park near us for jumping and turning. Pretty sweet little setup!

I'll think about the bike but with Austin's sensory disorders, it'd take only one hit to the nads to put him off bicycling for life, I think. I already have trouble finding physical activities that he likes. I'm going to have to keep it cheap because I still have to pay $1600 of the $2600 worth of damage he did to he house last month... Another long story!
