Anyone have a LS1 Scan Tool?

I still cant get the car to start..I figure the easiest way to figure out what i have wrong is to scan it. I dont have a scan tool..does anyone have one around me that would maybe mind letting me borrowing it..or swinging by for 20$? Please let me know.

My auto Xray will work with the key in the on position. But his security light is flashing so think its an alarm issue. Steven

You just figured out his problem..

Its not seeing his key. Either the chip is dead (try the spare), its its the system itself. A scantool wont help you. Save your cash.

Mine was kinda wraped up around the steering colum and pulled down once unwrapped. Should be pretty noticible.....also check the kick panel as an installer may have tried to be smart. Steven

the sec. light wont have anything to do w/an add on alarm box. it should all be part of the BCM. a scan tool will help to find out what code it is thats makeing it flash. but I am pretty sure autoxray and thelike will not read that kind of data. just eng. data usually. the mod. could have lost communication w/the pcm, it may be reading the incorrect code (resistance through the chip/column), or there's lots of different possible things. if you havent got it looked at/figured out yet cory, bring home the vats system tester from work monday. my money is on the vats harness in the column. which is part of the ign. cylinder. have one of the techs at work show you what harness you need to disconnect to plug in the tester. its very easy once you know what to look for.
good luck

Sounds more like the starter kill is in protection mode for some reason. Steven

Did you have the battery out for a long time, or if not try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes and see if it resets the ecm!

I thought OBD-II had to be re-flashed to reset it?

Right,

Its a security issue, not a pcm one
