Anyone From Big Rapids?

The wife and I'll be moving to Big Rapids in a few months.

I've only been to Big Rapids once, and didn't get to see much. What is there to do there?

Where's the good restraunts, cruise spots, etc. Places to go, places to avoid?

Any input would be appreciated.

Things to do? Well, you can drink. And go to parties. You can go tubing on the river in the spring/summer.

Cruise spots? LOL! Ummm... no.

There's a decent restaurant/irish pub on the main road. There's a couple bars in the "downtown" area too.

Course, I haven't been there in a few years, they may have changed a few things. But I doubt it's gotten a whole lot more interesting. It's just a little farming town with a college.

Good, then maybe I'll have one of the faster cars in town, lol.

You mean Bennigans?

Great, now looking forward to 2-3 boring years of my life.

Edit: Tubing sounds like fun. Maybe I'll have a chance to do more hunting and fishing too.

Load your *** up in the car and drive 45 minutes to GR and come see us down here. Lots of cruise area, great resaurants, plus the race tracks are this way too. If you ask nice, I can show you the cow patty that Jason grew up on

Yup I'm from Big Rapids. Nothing really to do here. Unless you like to drink and party like someone else mentioned. The most popular places to eat: Bennigans,Applebee's,Peppers,Shubergs B&G and maybe one or two more. Ton's of fast food and pizza joints though cause it's a college town. Not a single place to cruise, the cop/resident ratio is horribly high. A couple buddies and I used to relax in a relatively high traffic parking lot but got kicked out, not because the owners complained but because the cops didn't want us distracting traffic. Not really a place to avoid, you'll find out quickly where you don't like to go. Depends on what your looking for. I go out clubbing very rarely, so if I go to the bar a friend of mine is a bartender at the "Sawmill Saloon" It's basically a hole in the wall hick bar, but he treats me good, so it's nice to go in there and shoot the $hit with the people. Tubing is a blast in the summer, no doubt about that. Also I don't fish much anymore, but I'm a hunter and I live in a house full of avid hunters so we can show you the good places to go for that if you want. A lot of people from the area will be found on Snowmobiles during the winter months. I just bought one earlier this year myself. Oh and as long as your car is a little faster than stock it will probably be one of the faster ones. I only have mild things done to mine and I've yet to lose to anyone in town, college kid or not. LOL most of the fast cars owned are by my friends anyway. We are in the process of getting my buddies TA up to par with mine right now though. Good luck with the move, it's not terrible, but not great either.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that. GR is where we go to have fun, much more of everything and it's all better than BR. Argreable there is also tons of great cruising. Thunderbird Raceway, the new 131 Dragway, and of course Mid Michigan Motorplex are all within' about an hour- hour 1/2 away.
