Anybody here done any race photography at MIS
Just wondering how long of a lens I need. I dont think 300mm will cut it if I want to get good coverage of the whole track. I've never actualy been there, so I have no clue how far away things will get.
Thanks

I go every year. I have a Minolta Maxxum with a bunch of lenses. It all depends where you are at on the track. The best photos I got I was in turn 2, looking down the front straight with a 500mm lense and I got some nice pics. I was even able to zoom inside thte car and get a few spotty shots of teh drivers (at least their helmets...lol).
If you are near the start finish line, a 200-300mm lens will be more than enough to get some good shots. You will also want a wide angle lens for some good shots.

Thanks for the help.
I have a Sigma 18-200 for the wide shots, I think I need a better 300mm anyway, so I figured I would look into something a bit longer. I have a standard Canon 75-300 now and it just doesnt seem to be cutting it. Focus is way too slow, and its not real sharp even when it manages to find the subject.
