Anybody ever Ran a Demon Carb??

I have a friend Who is looking into buying a new carb for his Nova.It will be going on a 468 BB. He wanted a Demon carb but the guy at the local speed told him demons are junk and that he would'nt even sell him one if he wanted it.He recommended a Holley of course. I have heard that Demons are basically the same as a Holley but they have Machined parts instead of cast or plastic parts.I have also read in alot of magazines that The Demons are the bomb. They can't say enough good things about them.Thats why I am here,to find out if anyone has had experience with them good, bad,or indifferent. Thanks For the input.

Joe C(DUKE) has a Demon 750 on his new engine. Mechanial secondaries and I don't know what else. No choke, lol...Looks awesome and it fed 440HP so far. I've heard nothing but good things about them. The new Mighty Demon 825(?) i supposed to be the hot ticket for a screamin' BIG BIG cube SBC.

I like Demon carbs, but I don't know if their price makes them worth it over a Holley. They are built better then a Holley IMO, and their more adjustable then most Holley's, so I heard, I haven't really messed with mine since the engine is STILL sitting next to my car.

If you want all out performance and don't care about costs, then Demon MIGHT be the way to go.

What kind of intake is he going to run?

Also, what is he planning on doing with the engine? Street car, race car?

If he is going to be running a spreadbore style manifold and mostly driving on the street, then I say the 850 Quadrajet from Edelbrock.

Alot of people run Holley/Demon carbs, but in my opinion they are total garbage unless you dont mind tuning and messing with them all the time. They don't hold a tune worth sh*t, and even the Edelbrock squarebore 850 would be better than a Holley.

I guess I am just a fan of the quadrajet, it is a damn good carburator and they work well and last.

About Holleys being better than a Demon or vice-versa, I thought that they were basically the same thing?
