Any Private Track Rentals At Milan In June?

I was just wondering if anyone has heard anything? They seem to be more frequent a couple years ago.

Thanks,

Bill

Everyone is invited to run

June 2 is the next drag series date for the Royal Pontiac Club I am a member of. It went up to $45 for Royal racers and guest racers. The club officers claim the cost of the rental went up as did the insurance. You can get a TON of runs in but only Royal members can participate in the points eliminations. I believe you can run time trials between the rounds of eliminations while the cars are cooling down. Gates open at 8:30 am and time trials start at 9 am. We have the track until noon or 1pm. You dont even need a GM car to run. We are opening it up to everyone so the club can afford to keep renting the track, since member participation is down. Some Buick Olds club guys were there at the last rental and you can run trucks, vettes, vipers, what have you. I am going to try to make it and if it looks like rain, July 7 is the next date.

jack, im interested in goin with my dads TA. anyone I need to talk to or sign up with if we can make it? or just show up at milan and pay to get in and go? yeah $45 is alot, usually club rentals are like 30-35. but, I LOVE racing at these rentals, last year I got 12 runs in from like 5-9pm, and that was with taking alot of breaks to let the car cool down, and hang with other people. anyone thinking of goin should DEFINATLY try and make it. track rentals RULE!

I dont think you need to be sponsered by a club member, but just mention me (Jack Tarvis) if they ask. This might be the last year they rent the track once a month if more people dont show up. Unfortunatley, I missed the last rental (May 19) because I was at Milan spectating the night before (awesome heads up race) until 11pm and then an hour and a half drive home. Usually only 30-35 cars show up, so you can get a lot of runs in. 91 Trunk (Matt) from Motown Muscle had some track rentals in years past, but I havent seen him post about one this year yet.

I went to the last RP event. My father in law went with his '70 GSX as well. The club members are really friendly.

I got in about a dozen passes in about two hours of running -- I could have done more. To get in, all you have to do is show up on time with $45 in cash.

You can get a loaner helmet from the tower for $5 for the day.

The newsletter does say that no tech cards will be issued once time trials begin (9am or so). Thats so the club treasurer doesnt have to sit at the gate shack all morning. I believe tech is in the staging lanes and that guy will write a number on your window.

I made the MM race and last wed. test n tune, punk!! Looking for a full 1/4 pass tomorrow(today actually) on the juice. Last wed it went 6.70 @ 105 in the 1/8th. Felt good and the tune looks alright as it sits, might add a degree or two back into the mix. Maybe jet it up if it's close enough to a 9.
