Aluminum Wheel Polishing

I need to get a set of aluminum American Racing wheels polished for my girl's Camaro. They were already polished but would like to get them to look like a mirror....or close to it. Anyone know anywhere? Or even how much this is going to cost?

buy a set of rims from a firebird or 97+ camaro and strip the paint and then use sand paper and a crap load of wet sand, you'll get there sooner or later.

cost me 130 total to buy a set of rims. strip and prep. i went down to aluminum before i painted mine, so you just polish yours instead!!!

To most people these rims are already shiny....but I'd like to get them like a mirror. They are only 1 year old American Racing Snipers.

like i said, 800 to 1500 wet sand and they will be mirror.

you could probly use some air powerd tool but i donno about the amount of heat it would cause, maybe the aluminum would melt ot get marked?

good luck

There's a member of the board here with the handle Chris Ja that does excellent polishing work. Do a search here and link to his site, he has some pics of some of the stuff he does.

I'm gonna pass on this little tip, that I got from Stenod Racing. Liquid Magic. It's a chrome cleaner. Available from Mejers, or Wal Mart. Blue & white bottle. Whipe on with a rag, let it sit a few minutes, and polish off with a different rag. I prefer an old (but clean) sock.

I have tried a few different products, and none of them have worked as well as this. Good luck. If that dont work out, look up that Chris Ja guy, I hear he does good work.

Thanks guys. Yes I am still alive. I have been working on Q's parts. The intake should be done tomorrow or the next day. Yes the top looks like a mirror Q. I am working on the rest of it now. My email should be working now as I just cleared it.
Taner I don't know why my PM box says full as I cleared it last night.. You should be able to email me.
97SS I have been doing this off and on for 30 years. If you are interested give me a call at 586 558/6694. Click the link in sig and you will see a intake and some wheels I did.

Q right now the intake looks brighter than new. You would not believe it is the same intake. I will email you tomorrow night some pic's.
