About the M7 cookout (everybody read)
About the M7 cookout (everybody read)
Is there any way we could move the M7 cookout to the motorplex instead of having it at the Ionia State Park? There's two main reasons why I think we should do this:
1. The street tire shootout is at the same time as the cookout. We don't want to leave Quentin hanging with all those hot dogs he bought, but I imagine that lots of people also want to stick around for the shootout.
2. You have to pay to get into the Ionia State Park. I know that $4 isn't alot of itself, but when you consider that many of us are already paying like $60 a night for a hotel room and then $30something to race, it all starts to build up.
The State Park probably closes at sundown, so that would preclude anybody from going to the shootout and then going over to the park (cuz it'd be closed).
What do you say, Jason? Can we move it? (Please don't make me beg in public...
)

I would like to see it at Stanton as well. The street tire shoot out is always a good time.
I'm game to have it there, but I believe the problem come into play with the concessions stand. They will have it open, and my cooking dogs for donations will probably limit the amount of money they will make. I believe that is the reason it was planned at the park in the first place. If the paying at the park is a problem, maybe there is a different park we could go to. But I dont think you guys are going to get the track to let this happen there. Not when you figure you are taking food out of their mouths...so to speak
I believe that you have to pay again to enter the Street-tire Shootout, so the economics of it aren't really an argument.
Also, in the years past, there have been few, if any M-event folks who stick around for the later racing.

Technically, the $4 is a wash because if you are REALLY tight, the food at the cookout is free (if you can't make a donation in return).

Besides, most people get so many runs in during M7 that they have absolutely no desire to run the car more.
Plus, having the cookout at the park is tradition!

Sidenote, If you win, I want more then a few cents.
Seriously though, this is our chance to give back a little to Jason and Chris. These guys do alot for us, and you all know it. I am not chastizing anyone, but what would it hurt you to stop by and have a free dog and give a few bucks to the board. I am footing the entire bill for this, please dont stick me with a crap load of food. I am bringing all the condiments, onions, relish, dogs and buns. I am also gonna make up a GIANT bowl of some sort of salad, and I will bring a 5 gallon containter of Kill-Aid and the cups and plates. All you have to do is stop and join in the fun. Come on out guys, it will be fun. Any ya never know, the more we can raise for the board, maybe jason can finally afford a decent smilie for bowing
The way that I see it, is sounds like I'd rather pay $4 for the park rather than risk getting an earfull for having our own dogs and taking money from the concession stands. Granted that the convenience of having it at the track is great, but I really don't want to pay another $10-$20 for eating there. We could go to a restaurant for that kind of money. I don't think Quentin would want that.
I say plans stick the same!!
