95 formula Conv -61k mi - $5900 - mid MI
PROJECT CAR: I am selling my 1995 Formula Convertible. 5.7 auto. It has 61,500 actual miles. Purple with Charcoal leather. 2800 SLP stall. It has the TransAm front end with Ram air hood.
Here's the sad story: The car had a problem dropping out of 2nd and 4th gears when going down the road. I brought the car to the transmission and was told the problem was in the computer. They put a new computer in and tried to flash it. They said that they couldnt communicate with the computer that was just installed - said I must have gotten a bad one from the dealer. I called the dealer to order another. 10 minutes later the tranny place called back and said that they were able to program it after all. However, after driving it down the road it still had the same problem. Then they unplugged the mass air - it doesnt drop out of 2nd any more, but it still drops out of overdrive. They said that there is no problem with the tranny and I need someone who know diagnoses engine drivability issues. - COP OUT.
I brought the car to a mechanic - he plugged in his scanner and was unable to connect to the computer. He said that something is wrong with the wiring and that it was going to be expensive for me to have him start tracking it down. I just spent $1000 and got nowhere.
I dont know enough about this to do the work myself and just want to get out of it. The car runs and drives fine - as long as I leave it in drive. If anyone knows how to fix this thing it would make a nice car.

I had a purple 95 Trans Am vert that I bought brand new and sold to a guy in Dearborn in 98 and it hasnt been seen since.
Sometimes a high stall convertor causes the trans to miss a gear or not upshift at all in OBDI cars (94-95). I'm looking for a 93 to 95 Formula or TA auto to play with, but not a vert. I dont want to deal with a cage to go 13s at the track.
Does it have a black top? Did you install the fog lights with the TA front and do they work?
