WTT: Race built Moser 9" for your 12bolt
WTT: Race built Moser 9" for your 12bolt
I have a complete Moser 9" for a 4th gen f-body that I am considering trading someone for their complete Moser 12 bolt rear. I got this rear earlier this year from a local board member here, it is in perfect working order but I think its more than I will ever need in a rear and would prefer a Moser 12 bolt. The rear has:
- 3.89 gears
- 35 spline gun drilled Moser axles
- Detroit locker
- nodular iron center section
- Welded axle tubes
- 1/2" racing wheel studs & lugs
This rear is really designed for a high hp application (obviously) this thing could stand up to just about anything anyone wants to throw at it and I know it will handle way more than I ever plan to do with it. It is really fairly quiet on the hwy, barely any whine from it at all. The main reason I want to switch is the notchy-ness of the locker, its not too streetable to me plus the added weight and drivetrain loss. You would need to change to different axles to go with a posi unit, there really arent any posi units available for 35 spline axles. Of course this has no ABS.
I would prefer to trade for a Moser 12 bolt, with 4.11 gears, 30 or 33 spline axles, 3 channel ABS, heavy duty support cover and a good high strength posi unit. A little whine is acceptable but not anything major.
I would prefer to meet up for a trade with someone in the North East area, I dont want to ship this and would prefer to see the rear I'm getting too before trading. I can deliver this and pick one up within a reasonable distance, 2-3 hrs away, maybe more. I dont want to sell it outright right now, I would prefer a straight up trade. That may change for the right offer though. Not in any rush either if you need time to change out yours or anything, my cars going to be sitting for the winter. PM me with any offers or questions.

Thanks Dave. The rear was exactly what you told me it was, it just turned out to be a little too much for me with the locker and all. Im trading it with a guy down south this week, hes got exactly what I was looking for.
