What ya Fbod Guys payin for insurance/ 26-27 yo's
The car will most likely be paid off, so I wont be carrying collision. I was much younger last time I owned a fbod in jersey and just curious what ya guys are payin...My tour is almost up here (AK) and I should be home in a mth. Had a 96 LT1 here in alaska for a while and it wasnt that bad at all but I know jersey...Thx
Well, I can actually say that I am very happy with my insurance rates. I think they are very fair.
My 93 Formula with full Comp, Collision, and $300,000 liability is $419/6 months thru Allstate. I am 26 and have a clean record. I have the car off the road for 5 months out of the year with only storage on it for the winter (for theft, fire, etc..) and that is only $85/6 months. So basically it comes out to be about $600/year for me (7months full coverage/5 months storage).

I was 27 when I sold my mustang and I was paying $85/month for full coverage. In my opinion, if the car is worth more than a couple of thousand you should carry collision. Just because you think you're a good driver and will never hit anyone/thing doesn't mean you never will.
I hit the cement barrier in the center of the turnpike last year when a woman in a mini-van came into my lane. There was no contact with her van but she DID pull over and give me all her insurance info because she knew it was her fault. I went through my insurance company to get it fixed because hers felt as though I was 30 percent at fault. Today (a year later on Friday), my insurance company is STILL fighting hers. Why would the woman pull over and give me her info????
Anyway, what I'm saying is that you can't predict what's going to happen and if you wreck your car because of something stupid that someone else did, you'll be glad you only have to put out your deductible to fix it. Just my opinion.

I recently dropped my insurance but before I did I was paying ~$630/ 6 month (give or take a few dollars, I cant remember the exact number). That was with full coverage having 100/300/50 for limits and a deductible of $1500. I did have 2 pts on ins from a speeding ticket 4 years ago. The sad part about NJ is that with the new reform they went thru last year... any points stay on your "ins record" for 5 years now.
After carefull consideration.... I dropped the ins on the Z.
My reason? I had a $1500 deductible, ~$1260 a year ins cost, and I was only covered for "blue book" value. I drove the car a grand total of 300 mile for the year. I decided to take my chances and just drop it and stop driving it on the street. Its going to be a track only car when I actually get it out of the garage

Thats cool, Ill probably still carry USAA as my insurance company (military discount) even though i still wont be in, since they consider me a veteran of 2 foreign wars im allowed to keep them...Ill wanna drive the car on the streets, even though it probably wont be my daily driver. Especially on my summer weekends...as far as collision goes...Ive been driving almost ten years now w/ no accidents or tickets, I guess ill take my chances...Thanks for the replies!
Yeah USAA has reasonable rates... but in jersey its still high compared to everyone else. You should have no problem keeping them... all you need is to have served in the armed forces and your eligable. My brother is active USMC stationed in NC right now. His ins on his truck went up ~40% when he went to Iraq because it came back to NJ while he was gone. I used it and paid his ins while he was gone. I actually found out that only parents of military are eligable for USAA, no other family members can get it. I looked into that too
USAA is availiable for all vets and their families. USAA is a good choice they are good company.
IN case you not aware insurance rates aren't statewide, they have territories and charge more or less depending on one you live in. You also have credit scores, driving record, claims, car symbols, age all making up the price so dont go by what some other dude pays it really doesn't matter. Another good choice in NJ is a company named Palisades.

You guys should be comparing 6 month and annual rates, monthly doesnt mean sh*t because of downpayments and installment charges.

They take all the charges for the 6 month rate and divide by 6 to get the monthly rate. Atleast thats how my insurance company does things.

88 x 6 = 528$ for 6 months. If you want to know my annual rate you multiply 88 by 12!

I wasn't going to say it.
$85 x 6 = $510
$510 x 2 = $1,020
I think I'm getting screwed by USAA then.
25, clean record (no incidents since Feb 1998), good credit history, and they STILL want to charge me something like $1750 a year for full coverage on my 93. I was previously married even. Granted I'm in Camden County (not even near the city), but the car is garage stored and only driven about 2000 miles a year. So I told them to **** off, paid the car off, and dropped everything but liability. Still paying $450 a year for absolute minimum liability.
My Fiance' is 22 and is the primary driver on the Purple 93 T/A, and her premium is $1275 a year for full coverage 500 deductable, and she's on a clean record too.

How are you guys getting such a cheap rate from USAA??? I'm having a feeling it's Camden County, but I'm still feeling a little boned.
