What is it worth??? 1980 Z/28


Hey Gang, How is everyone?? need some guidance about value. please take a look at a car I'm intereste in....Nice interior and decent paint, wrong wheels but still looks pretty original. Not sure what the going rate is...Any help would be appreciated....Car is a nice running 86,000 mile low optioned auto with air.

right now the market is not showing much respect for the mid and late second gens.
i would say that you could et a better idea of value from the gang over at www.nastyz28.com , they are the experts on your car.

It's best to do a lot of research with similar vehicles before making a purchase. That way you have some knowledge of purchase prices, maintenance/restoration costs, what should be there on a particular vehicle and what shouldn't. "Hemmings Muscle Machines" had a buyers' guide to the late 2nd-gen Camaros in one of their issues, if I can dig it up I can share some of their specific recommendations. Basically I would check closely for the usual rust around sill plates/rocker panels, wheel wells, and window glass; consider any maintenance issues that need to be addressed (brakes, tires, etc.), and if originality is your thing, parts that need to be replaced. I can't tell too much from that one pic, but it looks like the left rear quarter is mucked up somehow Hemmings.com lists current 1980 Camaro prices as anywhere from $2,000 (for a basket case, I'm sure) to $20,000 (probably a low-mileage original).
