this week's project
this week's project
I just got the aluminum I need to make my own Alt. relocation bracket, and decided to get started. I took all the measurments and started putting it on the 1/4 aluminum sheet, and started cutting it out.
More pics to come as I go...

Thanks, it's coming along slowly because I am using standard tools. It has taken me about 5 hrs to get it to the point I have it now. but that is with drilling hles around the partern, then using a bench grinder to cet it closer to the shape I wanted then a few different hand files and sandpaper to smooth it out...
Here is where it is now, the holes are where they should be, but they are still small and I will size them when I get the bolts for a snug fit...

Nothing that grand at this time, actually it is just for weight reduction, I am trying to get this girl pretty light then I will see if I can go for Shon's bolt-on LT1 record... 12.53 without any real weight reduction aside from the stardard back seat and all that gives me a decent foundation. One of my next projects is going to be building my own adjustable aluminum LCA's and PHB, but I need to see how money is this month...
OK, So things seem to spiral with these damn projects...
I just got back from vacation today and started into pulling the AC and PS; well in doing so I pulled the dash and after feeling the weight of this damn passenger side airbag, I can in good conscience let myself put it back in...
So now I guess I will be pulling the airbags, sensors and wiring too, so out comes another 20# or more...
BTW, Does anyone know where all the different sensors for the airbags are?
I found the one under the console, the one up front on the frame support between the headlights, and the one in the center under the dash. Is that it, or is there one out back too? I wouldn't think so since I don't see any more wires heading out that way, but wanted to be sure...

OK, I made some progress today, a buddy of mine and his 9 year old daughter came to help, she was supposed to be the tool fetcher and picture taker, but there are a few of her just being cute, and getting dirty with her dad and I...

Dear gawd, man!!! Looking at the photos of the gutted interior with the "everything" gone and just a pile of wires....
You guys certainly have "big ones" doing such. I couldn't. No way in hell.
Hell, it took me a couple of hours to get the courage up to drill a hole in the firewall to run the wires for the Line-locks.
I like to meet up with you and Bri at the track sometime to see in person the carnage... and the timeslips!!! Meanwhile, I'll be on the tack in the slow lane with full weight and the cd player going...

OK, well it looks like this project paid off, I went to the track today even with the crappy weather and pulled off a new best of 12.345 @ 109.7, after that run I stopped by the scales since they were just calibrated for todays event. My RW was 3190#, and I'm probably close to 215# in full race gear, so that puts the car down in the 2975# range...
Better weather and the right gearing and I will be looking for that bolt-on record...
