update on 97 trans am

well i've been making these guys sweat it out over the past 5 days and they have finally to me come up with a good deal. i told the dealer that i wanted to be under 200.00 a month. so he called me today and made the following offer.

180.00 a month with 2,000 down..11,300 that's including taxes and tags.

that's pretty damm good from 14,500 to 12,700, to 11,300!

and i told you guys that i wanted to be at 180.00 a month!!

and also i saw a mint 97 trans am ram air with 68,000 miles for 12,000 on autotrader

so what do you f-body geeks think

Re: update on 97 trans am

how many payments and whats the intrest rate? The price is better but you gotta know all the details to figure out the deal.

still sounds a bit shaddy if they are telling you it includes taxes and tags. They dont know what they are untill you actually buy it so they dont know what the selling price would be...

Be carefull there bro, I gotta say I get a little cautious if I here crap like that.

I picked up a thing or 2 since my brother is a car salesman at Cherry Hill Nissan.

Dude for 11-12 you can pick up a ls1 with about the same miles!!!!

A lt1 now in perfect shape really wont fetch more than 8 or 9 unless it has SUPER low miles.

Unless you cannot finance it through your own bank than I dont see why you are going with a dealership. Try a credit union if your bank wont come through, they are more flexible when it comes to loans.

You can find tons of fbods with around 75-80k on em for around 5 or 6 most of the time they are modded also.

Good luck bud.

i get what your saying but i've looked around and ls1's are above 14,000 with low miles..this car has 38,000 miles on it and the car is mint. there's one little chip on the paint on the passenger side but that's about it..and yes i'm going to ask my bank what they can do.

If you know a friend/family member that's an accountant or works in finance [banking], ask them to come with you next time you visit the dealer to talk. They can explain everything to you, and probably get you even a lower number after exposing any little "tricks" the dealer might be doing to keep the price up.

Re: update on 97 trans am

E- thats still out the roof. All he did was move some numbers around to make it look more appealing to you. Its still $19.35 per month per thousand... and 6 years (72mo) is rediculious on a 97. (especially after you shell out 2 g's down payment) You still end up putting out 15G's for a 97 ta....

I hate to say it but I wouldnt touch that with a 10 foot pole. They got you lubed up pretty good for that deal. If you look at it that way your actualy not getting a great deal at all. He droped the price down big time (over $3000) for you but you only lost $0.50 on you payments??? I wouldnt touch that one bro... its just way out of line. If he really dropped the price by that much then your payments would be over $60 lower...

Move on and look for something else bro.

Re: update on 97 trans am

Jeff H's old ride is on the market, mileage is only slightly over 60K. says Moon roof, but i'm sure that's T-tops.

Not sure what the price is, but it seems just as clean as when Jeff sold it. If this was a M6 I'd be looting my retirement fund!

If not here are a few I found doing a simple search with better prices:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...g=en&cardist=7

Sure you could get the price down on the Firebird.

This SS looks interesting? Looks like it has the dual/dual exhaust.

Re: update on 97 trans am

....also, if you are going to finance look into credit unions..Mine is currently at 4.25% for used cars with nothing down...And I agree that 6 years is too long of a loan...If you like the car and can deal with the price, look elsewhere for the financing for a better rate and conditions with fewer years...
