Trying again
Trying again
well, i am gonna test my better judgement and start working on trying to put together another major gathering for next year.
after teh early success that teh ECN's had and then the miserable failure the last year i am left with an empty feeling about the way things went down.
i woke up this morning terribly motivated and started working on finding a new facility and seeing who/what may be available to get in for sponsors and vendors.
my plans are as glorious as ever. i wanna try to get it all this time, drag racing, autocross, car show, trophies, give aways, cash and prizes, goodie bags, chassis dyno, and vendors. maybe we can even get a burn out contest if i can find a tire sponsor for the winner.
what i need from you guys are what ideas from teh past and other shows you did or didn't like. i wanna make this as feedback based as possible like it was before.
thanks guys,
tim

Tim. I wish you the best of luck. I know there are alot of people who would really love to be part of an F-body event and other tracks. But form the looks of things... your long break from us here hasnt helped with your spelling any!!!
. Its T-H-E not teh. LOL, you left yourself open for that one!!
Honestly Tim the only part I'd personally be in would be the drag racing. Keep it simple. I'd like to see 4 classes. a radial tire class 12.99 and faster, r/t 13.00 and slower, a slick tire class, and a heads up/anything goes class. IMO, first time out with a new even, try not to over do it ya know.
If you need any help, let me know.
Oh, and get a website set up FIRST!

yeah yeah, my time away has not taught me to type any better.
i am actually working on a different approach this time. i am looking to get a little bit of promotional backing right out of the gate. i started a thread in teh fund raising section on www.njfbody.com to gauge their interest in helping to back and promote the event.
one of the first responses was an offer of potential web space to use.
i am thinkign the classes will be similar to what we had before. true radial, drag radial, V6 and slick/cheater slick will be teh brackets. all will be the usual no electronics, "street car" type of rules.
the possibility of a heads up class is a lot fo fun, but then there is the problem of coming up with a rule set and prizes to get enough guys out to make it interesting. i like the idea of an outlaw 10.5 type class if i can coem up with enough prize money to support it.
as soon as i have some idea of what kind of local support i have for the event i plan to get in touch with the local SCCA regions about an autocross.
the big concern, as always, is teh car show. i have not gotten too much help to figure out what gets the car show guys out. i am gonna work harder on coming up with more prizes and see if maybe we can add a few specialty trophies to teh mix, like best paint and stuff like tht to the usual top 3 for each gen and best of show prizes.
i already have a contact for a dyno that i met out in carlisle at the summer swap meet. so i think that can be settled rather quickly as long as we get a date.
vendors are a good thing, vendors that provide a give away or prize are better. so that is an angle i plan to work heavily.
i am gonna see if i can get soem people together for dinner after racing at atco on Nov 1st, maybe we can set up some sort fo a round table discussion so i cna get soem feedback from everyone.

Tim,
I would love to help, but I have no idea how.
There is a local message board on the net that might be able to help out though - GoDragRacing.com.
Check that out and let me know if I might be of any help.

once i know what is goin on a bit more clearly i will be askin for volunteers. the biggest thing anyone can do is just circulate word once we get a firm date and start getting stuff set up.
things are a bit new, but here is the link to where the main discussion is gonna be takin place about setting things up: http://www.njfbody.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=327
there will be flyers and stuff that anyone can give out once we have things set in motion.
thanks
