Liz is a social worker... She is only part time now because of the boy. But she works in Trenton andas soon as here masters is finished she will be tring to pick up per-diem case work in NJ. She is licensed here.

Me, yeah I tried a different job once about 2 years ago. It sucked. I'm a Union mechanic for Caterpillar. I'm fully vested in our pention, I have pretty good seniority since I have almost 9 years in now. And I like my boss and my job... Only way I would move is for crazy money.

If you work on Cat you work for Cat. There are other dealers around but I would have to go to Northern NJ/NY, NYC/LI, Eastern PA, or MD to work for one.

My job and Liz's job is not the problem... its just the area we live in. Yeah its expensive but its where I live and where all the family is. If we relocated we would lose our babysitters and Liz would have to stay home full time. I refuse to put the boy in day care.

We bought our house in 2004 and our property taxes were ~$1400 and over the past 3 years have increased to $1800. The houses similar to our have been selling from $300-$340 depending on garages, lot and other updates, etc.
Man at $7200+ a year that is like $600 month in taxes (holy **** that is a lot!) Even if you paid off your house in 30 years you will still have a mortgage to the state (figure property taxes always go up so in 30 years the taxes would probably be $15000+). You guys in Jersey must have the best roads, schools, DMV,police force for all that money in taxes (or just high paid beaurocrats). Good Luck in your home search. Just be very patient and do not settle for anything less than what you want. It is a buyer's market now and I would def lowball my initial offer and start from there.

Later,

OK, Delaware sounds better to me now...
