Possible to pass NJ emissions with gutted cat?
Possible to pass NJ emissions with gutted cat?
I recently had my cat gutted, and was wondering if I stand any chance of passing inspection next year.(Straight up---not trying to buy a sticker) I doubt it, but I just was wondering if it was possible.

you r car would have to be in an absolutely perfect state of tune.
I've seen WRX's without any cats passing emissions... they just were tuned to perfection.
If you had a car with OBD II i'd say sure.. because they just do computer checks now.
When I first bought my car (64,000 miles)I took it to get inspected and I passed with stock exhaust, but with the gutted cat. Passed emmisons perfectly. They had a MV inspection station ont he road the other day, and they were testing random cars and my car failed one portion of it something that they allow .50 and i got .69, I dont know. Its prob cus of my tune, and z06 maf and stuff. She smelled alittle rich so, thats prob why.
