Northeast Guys with CHIPS who want a dyno tune!!!!
Northeast Guys with CHIPS who want a dyno tune!!!!
I'm in the process of setting up a Dyno Tune Day at Xotic Motorsports in Cochranville PA sometime between May 9th and 27th. Alvin, the chip guy from PCM For Less will be doing the tuning.
Alvin posted this on the speed density board:
I came up with a tentitive pricing (for chip customers). NOTE These prices Do not include what the dyno operator charges
All events will be as follows
Number of cars, Old PCMFORLESS customer, New Customer
3 Cars, $300, $350
4 Cars, $250, $300
5 Cars, $225, $275
7+ Cars, $200, $250
These prices are for all vehicles who use chips for programming
I hope that you find these prices resonable. I'm stuck between trying to offer an affordible price for everyone, the travel and housing expenses, and the fact that most other tuners charge in excess of $500 for dyno tuning.
I hope that we can also lure some old customers in. I'd like to get every last HP out of everyones car.
I'm calling Xotic tomorrow to set up the day and make the reservation. The cost of the all day dyno rental will be split up among the number of cars that show, so we NEED a positive count before hand.
I'm looking at making this on a weekday as that will aparrently drastically lower the dyno rental price below the Saturday price of $850. Looking at it, this is a great opportunity to get a chipped car dyno tuned for right around $300-350 if we can get enough to show. We're very close to seven people right now, so the more we get is icing on the cake. It could even fall below $300 if we get enough.
What I need to know is who's interested, whether a weekend or weekday works better, and a good head count of those genuinely interested.

that's pretty reasonable if the guy knows what he's doing and it includes dyno time for however long it's needed. if he's making 2 or 3 pulls and just guessing off the numbers then it's not so hot, but still probably better then other ideas.
He KNOWS what he's doing. He's the PCMFORLESS chip guy. It's well worth it. He extracted 28 RWHP out of a BONE STOCK 93 Vette.
As for the runs it's whatever the car needs, but Alvin admitted it doesn't take him too long at all to do a car. He does it 'on the fly' as he put it, and is rather quick at it too.

It ain't in the third gen section for nothing!!! Alvin can do 86-93 GM stuff, select mustangs, and chipped GM trucks. Here's the info:
It's going to be on Friday May 14th for right now. Reason it's on a friday is that I got the dyno rented for 10 hours for $600 bucks. That's a KILLER deal. Should be around $300-350 per person depending on previous customer status with Alvin.
We have some flexibility with the day, but it's definitely going to be on a weekday. That price just can't be beat. Take a day off, save some money, and get a dyno tune. Alvin is going to require a pre-payment, I haven't worked out the pre-payment of 50% required for the official reservation yet, but once we have some confirmations, I'll come up with something.
Who's interested??
Alvin lowered the pre-payment amount by 50%. You only have to come up with half the money to pre-pay/register. For returning customers of his, $100, for new, $125, and the balance at the dyno.
