Nice time at Island Dragway...

Look Ma, smokey burnouts with no brake lights!!!

60' were a consistent 2.0s. (air pressure at 30psi) 2.117, (then dropped the air pressurre to 20psi) 2.037, 2.046, (air pressure down to 18psi) 2.030, 2.042, 2.053.

R/Ts not bad for the first time this year, but not good; .064, .193, .136, .159, .179, .166. I need to drive further into the beams. I did so on the first run by mistake when I brought the rpms up too high and the car walked a bit. That's how I got the .064. Then I was gun shy, especially during the elims. I did well enough. First elim was a gift by a red light. Another was I pushed a breakout. Was one of the last five cars remaining when I finally lost on the R/T. He had a .090 R/T and then just matched me at the stripe. But it was definitely all fun.

Started to get the rhythm of the line-locks / burnout / RELEASING the button and walking out of the burnout. Yeah, took a few tries. Bahahahahhaha. Almost as funny as not being able to find the staging beams for about "five" minutes when I first started this goofiness back in '99.

But it was damn nice to finally be at the track this year and be making a few runs. Great to be in the pits and meeting up with some people and shoot the **** about "car stuff".

Much much thanks to Pampered-Z and Projectz28 for their technical (and physical) assistance in moving me out of "ET 14.2s forever" down to yesterdays 13.3s and 13.4s and to Kazman for his continuing lessons on racing technique.

Had a fun day. Got 4 time shots. I need some lessons from Ron 'cause I went out in the second round. My official excuse is that I went to a wedding the day before. Rickety old formula was very noisy but dialable. Car went 12.166, 12.184, 12.209, 12.194, 12.211 (on a 12.21 dial) and 12.205 (on a 12.22 dial ) I was playing with launch rpm on the line and my RT's were .056 at 1500, .030 at 1650, -024 at 1800, .057 at 1500, a knee popping -.069 at 1650, and finally a loosing .049 again at 1500. My deep staging 60's were 1.798, 1.813, 1.818, 1.828, 1.827, and 1.814. A little inconstant and I think I wasn't putting the car in the exact same spot on the line. I got a shot in my right knee this afternoon and should be ready for next Saturday at Atco. Is the 2008 event scheduled yet?????

The Carol was wondering why Ron always got to go first! I told her that Ron liked to make the other guys drive too fast and break out. And Ron never breaks out because he's good at slowing down! It was a good day, sorry I missed you Jim. I was going back and forth between the show cars and the racing.

Admittingly it is easier to be the chaser than to be the chasee. But I have learned in bracket racing that if I am running on my number, no matter if its almost a full second slower than everyone else, I can still put pressure on the other driver. That and learning after Jim yelled at me for doing a rare breakout, that there is "another pedal in the car other than the gas pedal."

What I don't get is that so many people skip over the burnout contest before the race. What's up with that? Bahahahahahaha.
