New York/New Jersey residents highway question inside
OK,the family and I are planning a trip to Florida in May.I have AAA directions and also Mapquest. My question is this,The NewJersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway, are they one in the same?AAA calls it the G.S.Parkway and mapquest says N.J.Turnpike.Is this the same stretch of highway????Don't want to assume they are,so I thought I would ask.
Thanks in Advance!!!

They are two different roads, that go to two different places.
You will want the NJ Turnpike to get to where your going.
Route 95, that goes from Maine to Florida actually breaks in NJ. The NJ Turnpike is kinda like the missing section of Route 95.

The NJ Turnpike is an experience in it's self.
How many places have 14 lanes of traffic together, all going 80MPH?

Just as stated, you want the TPK. Just take it to the bottom of NJ, go over the bridge and it will dump you back onto 95 in Delaware. The tricky part is on the way home. If your not paying attention you will end up passing the bridge and heading for Philly, eventually crossing over into NJ just north of Trenton and next thing you know your heading South on 295... and all you ever did was go straight... lol
On the way home just follow the signs for the Delaware Memorial Bridge. Once you're over it follow the signs to the NJTPK. That way you end up in NY no PA.
BTW, bring lots of cash for all the tolls...

[B]Are you sure your speedo is working properly? Every time I am up there its 14 lanes doing 90-100 mph, lol.

Yeah thats what i'm sayin, it is definately a fun road if you like to drive fast! I call it New Jerseys version of the autobahn!!
I remember going to Jersey city one day. I was cruising on the turnpike at like 95 mph, when I noticed a unmarked cop behind me flashing his high beams at me. I got scared for a second but then realised he just wanted me to move over cause I was going too slow for him!!

so confusing, and I live in Jersey.
My father workes as a NJSP on the turnpike, I drove down there one day and was blown away by the crazy turns and sighns, Playstation should make a game, "navigating NJ"
also, ever notice that you have to pay to get out of jersey but not to get back in?
