NE Ohio Dyno Tune

Hi guys....I'm in the Akron area and need to get a tune for my bolt-on 94 Firebird.

Can I get this done at BigShot dyno or anywhere else locally?

I saw PCMForless was out at big shot while ago but I missed them. I havent been able to get ahold of anyone at big shot yet to see if they tune LT1's on a regular basis or if its only when PCMForless is in town.

I talked to GMR Speed and they want $525, which seems steep.

My original plan was to get a mail order tune, then dyno the car. I figured I could send the AFR results back and get the tune updated depending on how spot on it was.

I think a full on dyno tune might be a little excessive for just bolt on's, but who knows...

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks,
CL

I know that Akron Horsepower now has the software to do our cars. They have contacted me twice about it since I got a dyno reading. I haven't had it done and can't vouch for their tune one way or another though.

Re: NE Ohio Dyno Tune

I've seen both PCMforless and LSracing tune cars and Bryan Herter from PCMforless is way better. What usually takes Jamy 15 to 20 pulls takes Bryan only 3 pulls. This is especially true for LT1/LS1 cars. They are about the same for L98 (chip) cars.

MunsonGTA...I have ask this? Why do you push lsracing so much? Are you getting a cut or something? Are you lsracing?

I hate to say this...I really have nothing against lsracing...but I know of someone that his car will not shift WOT and was told that unless he forks over another $200 it will not get fixed...never mind the $400 it was up front...and it was tuned by lsracing.

That is bull**** in my book.

i've always had great tuning from jamy, so i simply refer people to him. why do you guys push bigshot so much? because keith hooks you guys up...

it's either jamy or GMR speed, you'll be waiting for months for pcmforless to come back around.

Bryan Herter moved, he's only 2 hours away. Its alot easier to get him out here to tune cars now or you can drive out to him.

well that's news to me, still doesn't change my mind about jamys tuning ability. i was simply giving those guys an option to choose from, as you guys did.

Re: NE Ohio Dyno Tune

I've had the following tunes on my car:

Ion Solton - Madwolf
Great guy to deal with, very knowledgable and goes out of his way to help. Customer service is top notch for a guy that also goes to school and tunes on the side. Would repeat customer.

Bryan Herter - Mail order tune was very close. Can call and shoot the breeze with Bryan anytime (almost ) and he'll help you out. Dyno tune is 3 pulls and done - this is a big plus in my book.

Jayme (lsracingchips.com) Dyno tune was good for 437rwhp - took a few pulls but I had problems with my car that messed with the tune.

In the end i'll stick with Bryan and that's mainly because I can get him to come out to Big Shot and tune my car on the dyno pretty easily, my cousin and friends use Bryan and also the biggest reason is that Bryan is a fellow racer and for me that's crucial. He understands that I want power AND safety (if possible)

Not to mention the fact that Bryan and Alvin are a blast to have around - always a good time.

I just spoke to Bryan, he said That on August 11. The guys from Power house performance are trying to set up a dyno tune session @ Norwalk.
