What do you run with your T/A? My buddy bought my 87 Iroc 5.7TPI and he just got finished installing a ZZ4 shortblock, LT4 hotcam and Holley Stealth Ram intake but he didn't upgrade the heads or exhaust manifolds yet(just a standard clean-up and valve job on the stock iron heads). The Iroc also has a bullet proof TH-700r4 with custom shift kit, 3.70 gears in the 9 bolt, custom burned prom chip, and Borla catback(adjustable). He has been having issues with the timing and getting the car dialed in. You two should get together; I am sure he could use your experience since your set-up is very similar. His handle on this site is Irocing ! I will email him your info so he can contact you too!

Re: NE Ohio

Hey Brian,
At Ford vs. GM Sunday at Thompson, I finally had a chance to run the SS.
She ran awesome!!!! Weather conditions: About 83 degrees, Very Humid, & Mostly Sunny/ My Best Run of the day was a 12.80 @ 108MPH W/ 1.87 60FT!!!! Bought some 275/40 DragNittos for the SS and She was still spinning pretty bad, maybe need a longer burnout next time. Before the end of the year, I am going to go out again and see if I can better that time. Hopefully with some cooler weather I can knock a couple tenths off!! I was very happy with my first time out in the SS!!! Later!!!!

Re: NE Ohio

hey i look forward to seeing you guys out at thompson sometime. I'm guessing your buddy should run a low to mid 13 with that setup he has. My buddy jamy helps me do all the tuning on my car. He had an 88 5.7 iroc that was running mid 12's with a 355 hsr at quaker. Have him get ahold of me and maybe we can help him get some things straight with his car. The hsr is somewhat tricky to tune. My aim name is MunsonGTA if you guys want to get ahold of me on there.

my best time was last year with the car. only time I ran it since I bought it. The car had a stock 5.7 with the only upgrades as the zz4 cam, headers and a 2 1/2 flowmaster exhaust system. 3.70 gears in the 9 bolt. And on bald tires I managed to pull a 15.10 spinning through 1st and into 2nd. It was the first day the track opened last year. My car is much more modified since then, i'm now hoping for 350 RWHP N/A and mid 12's.

Re: NE Ohio

That is badass! Did I not tell you a 12 bolt is the best mod for a M6 LS1? Gears make a world of difference in these Ls1 M6 F-bodies! With some cooler/denser air, a bit lower tire pressure, longer burnout, and a higher launch rpm you should see 12.5 easily. I hope you did your burnout in 2nd gear because 1st won't give you enough mph with the gears. Thats great though! I have to get a Moser and gears for the WS6. I know if I get a 12 bolt w/gears it'll be in the mid 12s too; hell Kat ran 13.102 @ 109mph last year with a 2.17 60ft on my ET STREETS. Since the WS6 has stock gears and the 10 bolt we couldn't fully use the slicks; their main purpose was to eliminate the tire spin during the shifts. We tried dropping the psi but anything under 18psi bogged the **** out of the car...didn't have enough gear to pull through the traction. We ended up raising the tire pressure back up to 25psi cold and that was when she ran her best pass.

I am glad to see another Scorpion Racing car haulin ***!

Later

B

Hey Gary! Why are you replacing SPEC clutch already? I drive the SS fairly often but I have only put about 350 miles on the car since I pulled it out of storage in early April. These new ****ty hours at Classic are making this summer waste away. I don't take the SS to work much because I don't see the point of it just baking in the sun with bird**** and railroad dust on it. I go home on lunch and drive the SS back to work a few times a week. Besides letting the sun/birds/rail dust ruin the paint, the 2nd reason for not driving the SS all the time to work is because the car is OBNOXIOUSLY loud and annoying. I have enough courtesy for my neighbors to not start it at 7AM. Most of my immediate neighbors are older and retired; therefore, waking them is just rude.

I should drive it more then I do but oh well!

Re: NE Ohio

Bob if you want better #'s at thompson make sure you go out there on saturdays. The track prep is much better when the real race cars come out to play. I got my code 33 fixed, the car just got tuned again by my buddy Jamy. He makes cars come alive. Now I just gotta get my brake problem figured out, put in a few little things to be track legal and i'll be ready to head to thompson. Lets hope for 12's.

Re: NE Ohio

my clutch is 3 years old and its the first design they had. from what i read alot of people had problems with them. it has almost 15,000 miles on it too. its just weird how it started slipping all of a sudden. ive been wanting to change it for almost a year so now is as good a time as any. if i didnt do it now i would definetly be doing it this winter. im putting nitrous back on it and getting a 12 bolt or 9"!!! im going to order it either tonight or tomorrow. so hopefully i can have the car back on the road next weekend!
