Mentor area guys in here

Anyone know of a Turbocharged Celica. Old style around there? I talked to this kid on some other site and he said he has 430 hp coming out of it. I was like ya right. He doesn't know who I am, where I live, or what kind of car I have. I call his BS though. Just curious if any of you have any sightings or encounters with a turboed, silver celica.

i definetly haven't heard of him. the only turbo import guy i know of has a civic and its harmless anyways, at least thats what ive heard. don't forget that i missed the whole cruising/racing season this year because of my knee so the celica guy could be telling the truth, highly doubt it though.

Hey guys its been a LONG time since I posted here with you all! I haven't heard anything about a turbo Celica either. I know of a couple fast turbo Eclipses/Talons, but no Celicas. I met a young kid with a Turbo Eclipse that has run a 12.8, he wants to join Scorpion Racing next season. I will do some investigating, I know quite a few guys that know everyone whoes everyone in the ricer world here in Mentor area. Well I just wanted to say hi! Gary whats up?

Hmmm...I believe my words were something like,"he needs to really practice shifting, he takes to long to shift". That is much different then learning how to drive your car right ! I would kind of take that as a rude comment, if someone had said that about me. Apparently Kristen needs to pay a bit more attention to the actual words that come into her ears and not say what she "thinks" she heard. When I seen you run out a Thompson with your buddy in the blueish Z28 automatic you were shifting kinda slow, like maybe you were testing out the car or keeping from breaking the clutch. Some other guys there too had said you should be shifting quicker. When racing a M6 shifting accurately and quickly is as important if not more important then the horsepower you have. With what you car was pushing(powerwise)at that time you could have easily gained 3-4 tenths maybe more by speeding up your shifts. M6 racing takes A LOT of practice. Without putting in the track time, one can't become faster in their shifting. I too have to get to the track more often for some practice, I think we all can become better/faster shifters with practice. I didn't say anything with the intention of meaning you suck at shifting, I meant you could be faster and that would in turn make your car A LOT quicker in the process. Your car should be running mid 12s EASILY. As mine is capable of mid-high 11s. My problem is traction and track conditions, spinning to 1/2 through 3rd for a 12.5 @ 115mph simply won't do. Now 11.4-11-8s @ 118-122mph would be more like it!

Don't worry, I wasn't mad! She definetly didn't explain it like that though! I know what you are talking about with the slow shifting though. That was the one day at thompson when Rich was there and taped one of my runs, right? Everyone was busting my ***** about the slow shifting! That was the first time out with the heads/cam and a stock clutch! I pretty much got my shifting problems solved, I really need to work on launching the damn car, with street tires. If I don't do anything to the car this winter, my goal for next year is to run high 12s with my kuhmos. I think it can be done with some practice.

12s should be no problem really. I had my 315/35zr/17 BFG Comp T/A ZRs(not drag radials)on my SS last spring and I spun like crazy. I finally got traction while grabbing 4th gear and ran 12.6 @ 114mph. Kind of weid because I had a 2.2 60ft and when I ran my slicks I spun too and ran a 12.5 @ 115mph with a 1.6ft. With the slicks I hooked great in the 60ft but soon after that I broke loose and spun into 3rd almost smacking the wall. you got me! I am dropping some weight, getting 15inch Bogarts with ET DRAGS and front skinnies and dropping my clutch at 6500rpm and we'll see what we'll see!

Gary, you better get that stuff down for next season. With the new tranny, 3500 stall, and 3.73s the A4 is gonna lay the smackdown on you.

Grease...heck no I am not going to try a 6500rpm dump on the stock torque arm! I have only put about 200 miles on my car this whole summer. I haven't been to the track since I got your torque arm from you. The ETs I was talking about was in the begining of the seaon prior to me destroying my torque arm, I think I will be getting a Spohn torque arm after XMAS. As soon as I get it I will email you and drive your's down to you. I know you said you didn't need it but it's good to have a spare, just in case. Since you wouldn't take any cash for it at the time, I told you I would give it back to you in the same condition you loaned it to me in.

Cool

Hey Brian & Gary,
It has been a very long time since I have been on this site. I hope you guys had a good Thankgiving even though the weather has sucked!
I haven't seen no Turbo Celica or any other import to worry about lately. I don't know where these people come from. I guess it just goes with the Mentor Ohio gossip thing. I never ends.
I haven't been on this site lately due to the fact that I bought my new truck and I have been on Ls1tech and Ls1truck alot lately.
I have been trying to get the truck straighten out the way I wanted it. I am starting to work on engine and computer mods now for the truck. I have only got to drive the 01' SS, a couple times in the last couple months. I will get back to the program, when the weather gets warmer.
I will talk to you guys later!!!

Gary,
The Ls1 Trucks are awesome to work on and mod up. They are alot of fun and are really nice trucks. I love mine so far, my dad has a 2000 5.3, and he loves his too. Rich said that Matt got his truck running, have you talked to Matt lately and how is his Ls1 truck coming along! And yes, another car payment does suck!
