LT1 cam in a 305 iroc??anygood??
I've got an 89 iroc with an 305. I'm going to do the valve seals and just wondered if it was worth putting an LT1 cam in. I have no clue so any help would be a lot of help!
Also if anyone has an LT1 cam they don't want and want to sell, let me know! Or even trade for RS parts? I gone threw 2 RS and moved up to an iroc

Yes! I put one in my 305 tbi along with the vortec heads and its a totally new car. Trapping at 93 mph with stock tbi, stock chip, and NO traction! I cant wait to finish the whole thing and pull a 100 mph

well this is what I've got. 89 iroc, stock, tpi,black on black. The only thing's done are air filter(k&n), Cat hollowed out and the timing played with (it's running rich). But get this I can run at the track 14.38 at 105.6 m/h. Thats my best run. The others are 14.4 and 14.5 but close. Not bad for a 305! The only reason I asked about the cam is I want to (need to!)do the valve seals. So just looking into what little things too do. So thanks for the info! Now I need to look into other cam's. Maybe I should just spend money on the 305 before I get the 350? Cant make up my mind! It would be a year or two before I put in the 350. AAAaaa well time will tell. Thanks for the info!
The LT1 cam is a great match for the 305. There's better cams out there, but not for $20.
I'm running it with TPI and it's pretty well manered, and I'm still getting 22+ mpg (not finished prom tuning) and it pulls hard right up to 6K rpm. I have my mods listed on my page. I can't really say how much of a gain I got from it, because I did like 20 things at the same time, but it's working well with the rest of my combo.
I did 3.23 gears, posi, poly bushings, boxed suspension, air bag, SFC's, TPI conversion, cam, valve springs, ported 081 heads to replace swirl port crap, accel injectors, ported plenum, 180* stat, TES headers, 3" cat-back, K&N filters, wheels and tires, AFPR, modified APYP prom, and a general tune-up. Damn, it was 20
I'm surprised it ran without trouble after doing all that. What a way to spend a week in the middle of July.

let me say it again......so you're saying....with K&N filter, and a hollowed cat...you're getting trapspeed of an LS1? I like my 3rd gen as much as the next guy but i'd have to call BS on this one......
only a few posts in and he has already pegged teh bs'ometer.
i am with juice on this one. i have heard soem whoppers on these boards, but a air filter and a hollowed cat taht makes a 305 trap at 105 mph is the best yet, or did you forget to list your nitrous kit in your mods...lol
