Looking for a mechanic

I have a 95 Z-28 and I am looking for a mechanic that will know how to do everything (the right way) to get my car down into the 10's. I am in Edison, NJ. I have used Ivan's Automotive in Metuchen but I am looking for someone with more racing and F-body experience. Thanks

A friend of mine who does work on my car is pretty good. Dropped plenty of cars into the 10's and 9's.

His latest was a 9 second Mustang.

Let me know, will set you up with him. He is one of the bosses for the STS's in NJ.

Nice. This guy does everything? From motor, trans and rear end work? My 2nd gear grinds. I want to bulk up the trans when I get the syncro fixed. Can this guy do this?

If you're willing to drive over to PA I can recommend someone here. He was the NED bracket final champion in Heavy in 99. Has a shop up in Schwenksville, PA. I sent Leo (do_not_4get) to have some work done to his Z28 up there and he was very pleased.

If you're interested, I will get you a number.

Try Cartek(908)317-4496. Ask for Dave. They are out of Garwood NJ, about 20 minutes from you. they specialize in F-bods and Corvettes.

I second the vote for Cartek. Dave and Julio got my bird to run 11.023(almost in the 10's) without ever lifting my valve covers !!!! www.cartek.net

shouldnt be very hard at all to get an lt1 in the 10s, most run low 14s stock some high 13s.

3.73-4.10 gears
good 4000 stall
shift kit with bigger servos
longtubes with duals and x pipe
cai or ram air
pcm programming
good set of drag radials

without touching the internals and with good traction i bet the above will get you 11.5-11.8

alot of people are into weight reduction if you do it right that can be worth a .1 or .2 atleast

BlueCamaro, I highly doubt the mods you listed above will get an internally stock lt1 into the mid 11's without some sort of forced induction. I'm internally stock and it takes a 100 shot to just crack an 11 second timeslip with very good track/weather conditons.

Hi Chas,
I got your email. I'll get his number for you today - his name is George. He has a small shop outside his house. It's only him but it isn't a side business because that's all he does.

Anyway, I'll send you his number sometime this afternoon.

His name is George Martinelli, phone is (610)287-8320. Just tell him that Jacki and Rick referred you to him. He's a great guy!
