Jason how much do you think DA plays a role? If I raced at sealevel my mph would be in the mid to high 118's on a really sticky tire as is. On a nitto or harder tire another mph or two could be in there but with a bad ET ofcourse.

Isnt that about right for what I would dyno now with the taller gear and 12 bolt sucking up some power?

Seems like it maybe close???

I am not talking about DA. That is not relevant to what we are talking about directly here. I am not talking about max potential for ET and mph. I am talking directly about how cars run at NYI (at that altitude and average temps here). I went 110mph on a stock motor with boltons at a +1700'DA......82 degree day.

This is becoming alot more complicated than it actually is to understand. Aside from ALL FACTORS of weather and altitude, cars mph pretty well at NYI. I went 105mph with a CAI and Borla, 110mph with bolt ons (headers, 1.6 rockers), 121mph on a solid roller 355 with problems, and 126mph on an untuned solid roller 396.

Bret is going basically 110mph with a stock LS1 (which no one can say that is not a great mph for a stock LS1). To top it all off, look at the mustang guys....based on their power to weight ratio, they all are mph'ing well.

Kennedy's dyno number are high, thats why those cars "seem" to have a "low" mph at the track.

I only mph'ed 109.7 one time. I've touched the 109's again, but that was one run. It might be a junk clutch, but i've launched the same, gotten better 60 ft's and it's still hard to replicate that run exactly or beat it. That's another thing, one freak run makes the best run. You could run 2mph less than what you normally run and one point, boom you get one bad *** run.

For the head flow and the rest of what the LS1 has at my weight 360hp is about what the motor would put out. I don't know if that's high, but it doesn't seem to far off base.

I understand your point but DA plays a huge role and what about race weight? Your raceweight then still has 150lbs on me now, and some on Andy. Depending on the day the weather could make or break your time. For example when Andy went there was a stock LS1 A4 trapping 104. He wasnt mph'ing well at all. And in my 25+ visits there in the last 3 years I distinctly remember stock LT1's trapping sub 100, stock LS1's trapping 102-103ish and seeing C5's also trap 102-103 on a consistent basis.

Im just interested into the reason why you think NYI is a good MPH track. Being a scientific/medical person I have been trained to search for a direct cause and effect in all cases. I havent heard that from anyone else that has ever gone there. If anything they always tell me they run slower there. You got me baffled man.

On another side note.

The old mans C5 runs a 103 barely (102.9) with stock shift points. We just upped the shift points to 6200 today, I think the track will like that.

That does support the 102mph traps you see from C5's

I've also seen guys with stock LS1's do 103-106 in F-Bodies. I've also seen a C5 M6 do 112 with a intake and exhaust. Times are all over the place.

Jay,

I just remebered something.

I was at the shop late one night like always, and Craig was at the gas station next door with his car. That thing idled rougher than any Hot Cam car ever. Mark has a dam Hot Cam and that thing is mild compared to Craigs car. I didn't know of him at the time, but it was his car and all I could think is that thing has one wickedly lumpy idle for a stock type setup. I don't know but it seems that he might have a little more than a Hot cam.

Craig's car definately had a hot cam in it. He wanted it sound hard so I tuned it that way. Its easy if you know how. I even put a little bump in Matucci's stock cammed motor. Its just an owner preferance thing I do for the guys I tune for.

hey Matt I got your PM

Sorry guys, That is something I do for myself. I can tell if its one of my programs just by how they sound at idle. Its my own little thing. Some people like it so I give it a little bit more and it sounds like the cam is much larger then it is. Ask Andy and Matucci. All my programs have a certain crisp raspy nasty sound to them. Its just something I do. I can also tell when somebody has stolen a program of mine

Kinda what I figured...sounded like that was a moneymaker for you. Had to ask .

How much to tell me how to do it to my car?

I agree with the cam sound. It's really sweet. Now I just need a better driver. Hopefully it won't rain tonight. I'd like to get some more practice in.
