Question How was the Import vs Domestic at E-town on Saturday?

Just wondering how everyone made out.

Since no one has volunteered any info it doesn't sound good...

It was fun but the racing side of things want so good. Beautyfull day and the air was good. The track on the other hand wasnt all that great. Its early and yesterday was really the first time the track has seen any action in months. Imports were in the left lane, and it really showed. I ran in the Street Outlaw class 12.00-12.99. The car was ok... but there were so many cars it just took forever to get anything done. We arrived and were thru tech by 9:30. didnt start time trials untill 10:30 or so. First run I spun a bit, 1.74, 12.30. Second TT wasnt untill 12:30-1:00. I ended up in the left lane (Import side) and wow was that side a mess. On a moderate launch from 2200 the car went sideways instead of straight... by the time I got it back and moving in the right direction I was almost completly off the gas. I ended up with a 1.98, 12.9x pass. Made my dial very difficult since we only got 2 time shots. Dialed 12.30... First round cut a .541 and hooked it ok. 1.68... At the end I had the other guy beat by a mile and had to hit the brakes... 12.40@87. Judging from the time slips it would have been a 12.25-12.26 pass. So I changed my dial to 12.25 planning on being able to hook it again. 2nd round I got caught sleeping. .894rt , I have no idea what happened. All day I was cutting decent lights in the .5xx's but not this time. And I spun a bit to a 1.76. Couldnt make up that much ground and lost. I actually had the guy beat time wise, (WENT 12.31 ON A 12.25 dial to his 12.37 on a 12.20 dial) but the with such a horrible rt I just couldnt catch him. He didnt cut a great light either, but it was far better than mine. I gave that one away.

The car really needs the 3.73's put back in... I've lost alot with the 4.10's. Just too much gear for a 3700 lb car. I'll put them back in sometime this spring/summer.

It was ok, Way too many cars though. Got a new best though. 13.2 baby!!

I only ran the 2 time trial runs, cause I had to leave, and it was taking way to long to wait and run the eliminations

I saw you there Project, you were busy talking though, I was in the blue TA. I didn't want to come and interupt you. Your cars mean as hell.

13.2 aint bad at all... especially with so few mods. Infact thats pretty darn good. Congrats, you dont need much more to get to the 12's.

I was ther watching and there was way too much rice. Good thing for me I've had the flu or something for 4 weeks now and my ears were so plugged up I couldn't hear all the fart pipes buzzing around the pits. Those guys need to find a 1/8th mile track because they just waste everybody's time with their 16 second cars. Brian really got loose on that launch from the import lane. There were some Mustang Cobras running low 12's and a few Lightnings running low 12's with hardly any traction.

Not a bad day for me. First time out with the Turbo400. I drove an untested car 2 hours, raced, and drove back without any problems. Ran 13.0's most of the day. Lost in the 3rd round 'cause I didn't put the car in the grove and spun on the launch resulting in a 13.2x on a 13.0 dial. I think that I lost .3 and 5mph with the conversion but have a very consistant car. Runs were 13.06, 13.01, 13.4 coasting on the brakes, 13.03, and the spinning 13.2x. Looking forward to next week.

Only got 2 time trials in then I had to get going.

1st run was crap, great burnout though. LOL went 13.4 at 103, on a 2.1 60' no gas, and a deep stage. It's been a long time since I raced and I was WAY off my r/t's BLAH. I also kept trying to torque it too high and the car lurched forward I was screwed up all morning.

2nd run was better 13.1 at 105.5 on a 2.0 60' but the burnout was CRAP. No spin whatsoever...

I was happy seeing as the car only has 4k miles on it and just a Loudmouth for an automatic car.

It was a good event but it seemed to drag on forever. Maybe they should have a limit on the number of cars racing at stuff like this. The track was pretty bad early in the day, but got slightly better later on. I've only had my Camaro for a few months, so this was the first time I ran it. It went a 16.4@80, about what I expected. It's kind of a different thing for me since my other car runs 9's. The import drivers are generally pretty bad. The guy I ran in the first round had a 1.1 R/T and ran .25 off his dial. I caught him by 100 ft and lifted a few times to be sure I wasn't breaking out.

Next time I'll come bother you. I need to put myself and my car on a diet. With me and 3/4s of a tank it weighed in at 3925. I think with some weight reduction, tuning, !swaybar, and maybe some other little things I can hit a 12.

It's still not even tuned for the 3:73's yet. :/

So let me recap...

There were a ton of imports. (sounds like we need some more domestics out there )

The track sucked. (to be expected since it was the first day open in a while)

Man some of you guys got to stop at the Citgo on Englishtown road b4 or after u get from the track im tired of starting at the gay import shop accros the street all they do is rev there weedwhackers for an hour at a time.

Since i started working at the Citgo i now have nightmares about those god dahm fart pipes it seems everyone in OB has an import its getting really bad around here its good to find out that there are still Camaro enthusiasts out here.
