Headers part three...
Headers part three...
"I hoping for some nice varroom varrom and no pop-pow..."
Well I apparantly hoped well. And the six hours yesterday evening was well spent. I started up the car this morning and did a quick run around the block with a few mild "pedal surges" and then immediatly letting off the gas. No more "pop-pow"... well maybe just a few grumblers when the 97 TA idles down, but nothing like those "omigawd were under attack" ones.
The only bad news is that my "Supercharge-Alternator Engine System" light isn't showing. That's alright, I don't need it at the moment and besides even when it's running... it just looks pretty.
So John, do you still want to come over Sunday? You won't have to work on the 97 TA for a change.
Well, maybe to figure out where to put that 20 horsepower Jet-Hot sticker....
Seriously though, Carol and I extend our thanks and gratitude to all those that helped me through this "ugly mod". I certainly have become quite adept at removing and reinstalling the tensior and belt on that car....

Re: Headers part three...
Thanks, man. I think I'm coming into the "clear" now. It was definitely a "hot dang" moment when I stood on the gas and the 97 TA jumped and snarled.
Way way cool.
Now I have to get the dang car back to it's show side... the front end is a mess from the work.

Re: Headers part three...
Hehehehehe...
"Headers part four" will be the dyno results in a couple of weeks from now. That will be the last installment I think. After that I will move to "PCM tuning"....
"CamaroSS30thAnn": Didn't have a chance to see how well the car runs. I just quickly check the car this morning to see if the problem was fixed and that there were not any more codes. Unfortunately the weather was turning nasty so I didn't drive it to work. Opted for the Tahoe instead. I expect sometime this weekend I will be making up for the lost time of not being able to drive the car since Sept. 11th.
It still strikes me with amazement, if not outright funny, that the Trans Am came down the turnpike as a "six cylinder" and still easily out ran some coffee can cars that were bothering with me.

Re: Headers part three...
glad to hear it Ron. I figured it was something simple even if it took 6 hrs to find it. Ignition problems are the worst... hard to find and hard to diagnose. I bet that thing sounds sweet, I cant wait to hear it. I am going to try to make it on the 8th but I dont know. I might be starting the new deck out back that day.
If I dont I will come up to TSP. But no F-body for me... will you guys be upset if I roll in driving an '05 Yukon?
Its still a GM product and we can all watch movies in the DVD player

Yeah, it sounds sweet. Had to go put gas in it. Not before I splash some lawn mower gas in it as the guage was below "E". Didn't want to run out. Filled that baby up with high octane and then proceeded to act like azz from there all the way back home!!!
I'm flippin grinning from ear to ear. Gawd I love that "old school" header-exhaust sound. Hell I don't even need a cd player anymore... and no codes. Thread

Glad to hear the headers are finally "behaving". Enjoy 'em, I have my fingers crossed that all your problems are behind you...like those pesky Mustangs
