Cool Good-by 6 speed

Car's going to RapidMotorSports Monday night. First on the list is to put the car on the dyno and finally get some hp numbers. Then the operation will take place. Changing the 6 speed manual to a turbo 400. Mickey has orders to remove the A/C, cruise, front sway bar, air pump, rear seat, rear belts, rear speakers, and carpet undermatting. Cage will have to wait until next month.
Can't wait to try it out. Low 12's??????????

Awsome Jim! I cant wait to see how it turns out. I'm really still undecided on what to do with mine when it goes.

Since you are going that far maybe you should just put the squeeze on it too... HELLO 11'S!!!

Brian, car has 75,000 miles, 500 runs, and a bunch of overrevs. I hope the engine holds this season. Next winter is engine rebuilding time. I don't know what engine combo yet. Depending on what class I want to run next year. Street cutoff is 12.0 as you know and Heavy next year will be 9.0 I'll make that decision at the end of this year. Options are from a stock rebuild to a full tilt stroker, or even going to conventional Pontiac power. We will just have to wait and see.

I've yanked out all those parts except for the cruise control.
While it is there ditch the front and rear bumper supports.
If I remeber correctly the total is 26 for the front and 21 for the rear?
Another almost 50 pounds gone.

On www.ls1tech.com they have a GP for light weight carpet. If you ditch the sound deadening on this I am told it can lose almost 20+ pounds vs stock carpet.

BTW, my v6 should be right around 3020 right now.
In 2-3 weeks I am picking up a sparco evo seat to replace the factory cloth drivers seat.
Hellooooooo 2900's!!!!!!!

Best of luck with the new mods!!!

That's some weight loss program you're going on there Jim! I was just debating the no A/C mod this weekend too. I've had the A/C delete pulley laying around since the summer, but I never could bring myselft to yank it. If it wasn't for the little guy I would, I just know if I do he won't be too happy being picked up at daycare on one of those 90 degree days this summer

My cars all back together now except for the intake manifold. Some guy has had it for over a month now, I was having him powdercoat it red but hes been d!cking around so long I may just say forget it. I'm dying to fire it up and see how it runs now, it's been sitting since Thanksgiving

So Kaz and Rich are switching to TH400! Am I the only gear banger left!

Good luck with you A3's guys. I almost went there myself. Now I have a Viper shafted T56 and hopefully Mcleod will release the new bellhousing and Iron disk soft loc clutch soon. Maybe I can sneak 2 more years out of the T56.

Steve, ya I'm done with the stick. Something in the trans must of went on the last run. I heard a really loud crunch going into 3rd and could not get the car into 4th (on a .500 light). Now the gears feel all over the place. Powershifting is impossible. Sometimes it feel like its hitting a shift stop. Sometimes going into 3rd feels like 5th. Its over that far. Sometimes its ok. Trans is out and the clutch looks fine. Trans fluid is a nice brown sludge color. Fluid was changed at the beginning of the season. I should have the car back Thursday or Friday. Mike fabricated a custom bracket and the B&M Hammer shifter fits in the stock location. Car still looks like a stick. I'm counting the days to try it out.

I haven't decided if I'm going to run points again this year at Soutn Mtn. Bracket finals at Cecil were kind of anti climactic (sp). If I'm not running for points maybe I'll catch you at the Grove!
