Finally made it!!!
Well, I finally made it into the 12 second club:
12.974

1.980 60'
107.94 mph
The weather at Cecil was good and bad today. The good thing was the low temp of 48 and humidity was only 51, lots of wind but it was a tailwind so that couldn't hurt things any. What sucked was that the wind was blowing leaves and **** past the sensors and every other damn run the times and mph stats were out of whack! The run above was the only one in the 12's that accurately recorded both the ET & mph. On one other run I had a 12.923 & 1.988 60' with a mph of 48??? Maybe that was the wind spped
I got in six runs and only 2 of them recorded both the right ET & mph. Hell, one run I apparently ran a 10.392 @ 49.93 mph?? Hey, I've got the slip to prove it!
A lot of people were getting really pissed about the timer problems, including me but it seemed there was nothing the track could do about it.
A guy on a crotch rocket tried riding on one wheel halfway down the track and lost it midway!
He came down wrong on the front wheel, lost it and went down hard hitting his helmet then lost the helmet and they say he hit his head as he rolled
They brought in three ambulances and a firetruck and then finally a chopper landed on the track and took him out. I saw him waiting a while before he ran, it was only him and one other bike. The whole time I thought it was a real bad idea to be running a bike in this kind of wind. It closed things down for a good hour or so around 11 before they restarted.
Not many other LT1's there, a whole lotta LS1s though. Anyway it was fun, I'm glad I got the run in I was looking for before the end of the year. I feel much better about putting her away for the winter now

Congrats Gregg!!! I always knew you had it in that car, just needed the right track conditions to let it shine
!!
I know what it must have been like, the wind can be real tuff on the timing lights if there are leaves and debris blowing around. The leaves trip the lights at all different times causing the computer to get confused. The computer didnt see both mph beams tripped, only one, so it has a real hard time calculating mph
. Not much the track can do about it. If you choose to race on a day like that, you have to deal with it. The track is at the mercy of the wind

Thanks guys! I knew the car had it in her, just needed some good temperatures to get there. I didn't think it would take me until this late in the year to get there but oh well, it got there either way. I just ordered the hotcam kit for it last week, I can't wait to tear into it soon and see how much it wakes things up
Kaz, thanks for the skinnies, I'll probably stop by Friday to drop them off if that's ok. They were just what I needed

Congratulations! It sounded like it was an eventful day for everyone! I woke up at 4:30 in the morning to go, but we had a solid coating of ice on the ground up here so I said "No way," and went back to bed
